The best advice I can give you is ..........................before you try, be mentally ready to do so. If you are going to comit to doing inverts, then give it 100%. Don't go in half butt, or you will not be happy with the results. I slowed the boat way down when I learned a back roll, knowing I was going to crash, to get the feel of the rotation. Good luck and remember.........100%!! _________________ www.slobgear.com

| When i learned the backroll the best advice that helped me the most is a hard progressive edge, also if u fully comit to it u will have better results and as long as u rotate enough so your not completly upside down if u crash it wont be as ugly i have crashed much harder just by trying 360's............just go for it and good luck man |

the crashes on backroll don't hurt... in my experience. Way less painful then the edge-catching faceplant that we all did when we learned to wakeboard _________________ UCSB Waterski Team |

| Raidersftball181, thats what i did on my first backroll. let the handle way out and caught my toeside edge and my body was at about a 45 degree angle with the water. worst crash ive ever taken in wakeboarding. but that taught me to keep the handle in so im all good. |

I had a very bad accident when first trying backrolls. I took a raley cut in and landed about 30 feet into the flat, hyperextending my body because the board didnt release! threw more of a mexican and went straight out the front. ouch, dont remember much after that. my own mistake as i learned with no advice.
Couple of key thing on a backroll, wont go into too much as the trick list main page explains it very well.
The trick virtually happens for you. Progressive edge and not speed! keep two hands on the handle. Stand tall at the wake. edge through the Very top of the wake. Then as you leave the wake turn your head towards your lead shoulder and look for the water keeping your eyes OPEN.
remember commitment. in other word DO NOT LET GO OF THE HANDLE. as soon as you let go you stall out.
Good luck remember take the trick UP not out and the crashes dont hurt at all. |
