|

I've gone boarding twice and have yet to stand up! I've read a lot about how to get started.... and I feel like I'm trying those things.... They all say that the board will push into your body and to let the boat and board do all the work. I feel like my arms are doing all of the work I'm basically trying to hold the boat back with my arms! I'm plowing threw the water until I can't possibly hold on to the rope any longer and it goes shooting back towards the boat! I would love any help
thanks |

Heymarkmo,
At some point, you'll need to start rolling your weight a little forward and starting to stand up - you must be moving to do this...it's just a timing thing, just keep at it.

markmo -
What wesgardner said (good rule of thumb here is to ensure you read all of wesgardner's post when you see one.)
This stuff might also help:
* Muscling your way up often results in the "bungee-effect," where the rope suddenly becomes a weapon that you use to nail your friends in the boat with (It's not that funny when you're the friend in the boat. I lost a pair of Oakleys to a confrontation with a 13" handle). When you start pulling against that rope, and the tug of war begins, the boat is going to win, because, again, I don't see you wearing blue tights and a big 'S' on your chest. When you finally give up and let go of the handle, or rather the handle is ripped from your soft little hands, two things happen; One, the aforementioned bungee-effect and two, you'll probably have started the development of some nice rough callouses. So keep your arms straight and shoulders back, and let the boat pull you up.
* Plowing through the water is murder on your back and you'll feel it the next day. When you're hanging on and all that seems to happen is that water is pushing against the bottom of the board, thus stretching out your arms by a couple of inches, there's a simple solution - slightly point your toes. You see, what's happening is that no water is getting under the board to lift it up. By pointing your toes, the board is put at a slight angle, allowing for water to rush under it and, as a result, lift it up.
Got that from the following article:

yeah, what they said.
don't pull the rope, let yourself be pulled.
about plowing the water, besides what minndizzyg quoted about pointing your toes to let the board plane on the water, I think maybe the boat isn't going fast enough? Is your body out of the water at this point? _________________ Some female cows have horns, but you wouldn't really know anything about that now would you? |

wrap your arms around your knees and push your toes foward. have the driver go to 2600-2800 rpms and lean forward a little bit. kind of like halfway getting out of a chair. the board will go underwater untill the water hardens.(driver should be accelerating) once board is out of the water stand up and rotate.
Good Luck! _________________ show_boy08 |

| It helped me when i was first starting to move the handle over the leading foot (my left) and then just keep your butt to the board! This way your allready kind of in position, keep your arms relaxed and let the boat pull you out of the water once your on top of the water (crouching down) then stand up! Well this helped me, dont know if it will help you but good luck! |

| I spent an entire summer (7-8 outings on the boat) learning how to stand up on the board. I listened to everyone's advice and everyone gave me different advice on how to stand up. I didn't know who to belive and what advice to take because it was all different. Then one day I just told myself I was gonna stand up on the board. And that day I did just that. I just ignored what everyone else told me and went into this wakeboarding thing with a cocky attitude and stood up on the board. So yea just try standing up! Tell yourself your gonna stand up on the wakeboard! |

| Its just like sitting on the ground and having someone help you up. Try that. Its the same motion. |
