okay so last year before i took up wakeboarding i bought a brand new waverunner. it was great untill this year i took up wakeboarding.... its great fun to just ride. but ive got to where i can jump, go w2w, i can do a few grabs and a 180. and not to mention wrecking lol. point is im on a waverunner and the small wake is holding me back from this awesome sport i absolutly love. ive been snowboarding for 10 years so wakeboarding is natural for me and i love it. but i cant afford to buy a nice boat. and even if i sold my waverunner to get my payments the same they are now id be stuck to about 8gs for a boat. and i know thats not a nice boat. so im keeping the waverunner but is there anyway to improve the wake? i have a trim setting but i cant really tell which way makes the wake bigger. anyway any help is appreciated thanks...

Laughing sell it and buy an older I/O, you probably won't be able to find an inboard in that range.

geez i didnt realize jsut how cheap my waverunner payments are. if i sold my waverunner for say 9grand (if i could get that for it) i would have about a thousand bucks to put down on a boat. but to keep my payment the same, that would mean a boat for under 7gs. id rather keep my waverunner lol.

but ive heard of using like sand bags or something, but im not sure how well that would work with the waverunner, or if it would just sink the back end....? anythoughts

The hull of the waverunners are designed to skim on top of the water, that and the hulls are so small that you're not really going to have much luck getting a better wake out of it. I would recomend picking up a wakeskate and see how you like that.

If I where you I would just sell the jet ski and save up for a used inboard boat over the winter. Your not going to do as much wakeboarding during the winter and that would be a really good time to save up some money, and as far as weight goes, you could use sand until you have the money for fat sacs and maybe a tower. I hope my ideas might help you.

ive got a job now, i work my ass off as it is, 50 hours a week minimum. ive got a shitload of bills from all my toys and cars and trucks house payment blah blah blah. this sounds kinda bad, but i dont want any piece of stuff boat, i want something nice that will fit in with the rest of my stuff, i dont buy cheap stuff. i looked at boats and the boats i want are about 25-30k. even if i sold the waverunner and saved all summer i still couldnt get payments low enough.

so point is... im not sellling the waverunner. so you stop suggesting it. thanks for the help. ill just have fun on the little wake and try to go out with my cousins more often.

and id like to know where your working that you can save 15gs in less than 10 months.... making minimum wage working 40 hours a week and if you never spent one penny, you wouldnt even have 12k saved.

I heard you can get into an older late 80's Nautique closed bow inboard for your budget. Worth a try. You might need to add a tower and stuff, but wake should be sweet, better than an I/O.

did you mean to pluralize cars and trucks. If so, if you dont mind me asking, how many cars and trucks do you own?

um, as for your job, i take it your not in school anymore. Not to be rude or offensive in an such way, but where do you work? If your working your ass off for a while and still making min wage something isnt right, eventually you get raises. And as far as you wanting everything to be awsome and nothing cheap, that might be a sign... Surprised

i own
2000 ford ranger (paid for)
2000 nissan frontier (paying on)
1967 camaro (paid for)
1965 MGB (paid for)
i just sold my 77 FS Jeep
about 6 months ago i had a 2005 Nismo Frontier too but i traded it for a 06 subaru STI which i just sold about 2 weeks ago, im going to replace that with a 03 mini cooper S. (will be paying on and still paying off the last 2gs on the STI)
my last car is a 74 vega drag car. (about 9 grand into it so far)
as for my toys...
my 05 waverunner (still paying on)
my 05 rhinolined banshee (paying on)
04 yamaha r6 (paying on)
i use to be into bmx so ive got like a 400$ haro
my snowboards wakeboard, kneeboard, mountain board. i kite board, just the kite alone is over 1100 bucks.
i do a ton of sports that are very exspensive lol
my gas powered rc's ive got thousands of dollars in those. (all of that is paid for)

most of my cars and trucks i dump a lot of money into, i just dont like stock.

i blow a crap load of money and im in debt up to my ears lol.

no i dont make minimum wage.

i work at a bodyshop, i average 16+ bucks an hour. plus an ave of 10 hours of over time every week. i make very good money, unfortunatley i have none. besides all the money i blow i live on my own so i make my house payment and all those bills, besides my pos house that my mom gave to me (i just pay rent for the land in the court im in. i dont live cheap such as liek cutting back on internet, tv you know budget saving things, i dont worry about that, im young i want to live and i do it at all cost. as for wanting nice things, yeah its tru, im not a stuck up rich bitch, but i dont like being looked down on a a poor bum. i work my ass off i just feel i deserve the best so thats all i buy, i dont settle lol like i said i like to live at all cost.
but i know my budget and right now a boat is way out of it.

so for now ill try to tag along with my cuz more often on his mastercraft, look for my rich sugar momma that can buy me the x-star of my dreams Very Happy and hopefully in about 5 years or so when a lot of my payments will be gone maybe i can start saving for a 30-40k boat Very Happy

well, you actually did what I was gonna suggest.....sell some more isht. I'm the same way as you with hobbies and toys, but like my family likes to say "you need to pick a hobby". It becomes wakeboarding for me more and more each season.

That being said, look at the "budget boat" thread as those will be your best start for a wakeboard boat. You can waste a lot of money with random ski boats, so I would suggest you look at those on the list first.

Of course, I am biased towards the Nautiques. It seems like you enjoy projects and the early nautiques are very worthy candidates. You can easily pick up a 82-89 Ski Nautique for 6-10k. They have very classic lines, are built like tanks (if maintained) and throw a killer wake with a little weight. There is an enormous SN2001 resource thread right here on this site dedicated to them. Also check out the website in my sig.

i dont want a old boat, they just dont appeal to me. even thou its not a ski boat im looking at bayliners right now, they are pretty cheap, found some very nice ones anywhere from 6k-16k ive got several book marked. ive heard they are great for a first boat. and i talked to one guy he said the wake is big enough he can pull a tantrum, but it wasnt as good as a nice ski boat. so for now i think thats plenty big enough for me. and in a few years if i keep up with wakeboarding ill upgrade to a nice 30-40k ski boat.

i posted the truck, waverunner, and mg last night about 3 am. when i woke up this morning around noon i had emails about all 3 of them. so im pretty excited i think they are going to sell rather quick. so we will see.

and after i thought about it more i forgot that i paid off my waverunner from yamaha with my credit card. so im paying the credit card not yamaha and i already have the title to the waverunner. so tech its paid off. so whatever moeny i get for that (hopefully the 9500 im asking) can go straight to a boat. and if i get something close to what im asking for the frontier by the time i pay that off ill have over 10gs in cash i can put towards a boat. not to mention im use to have to pay 215 a month for the frontier payment. so thats an extra 215 bucks a month i can have for a boat payment, which means i could easily get about a 25k boat right now. but im not going to. im going to try to be a little bit responsible, buy a cheap nice used boat, try to start saving some money and paying off my debt, and like i said in about 5 years when i pretty much have every thing paid for. ill sell the boat and buy a nice 30-40k ski boat Very Happy
