|
|
Well on my second run on Sunday I threw a backroll on my second pass across the wake and destroyed my two month old Ronix ONE board and left binding. I'm not really sure exactly how it happened... I guess I just hit the water at just the right angle causing it to bust. The screw thread actually busted out of the top of the board and is still attached to the binding. The binding base plate also cracked in the same spot.
I didn't throw the backroll too big but I did take a very hard edge at 23.5. The worst part is I had to use an old Liquid Force for the rest of the Memorial Day weekend camping trip. Hopefully Ronix will cover this with the warranty. Oh yea, I did get it on video and did not land the trick. I'll post the video later for critiques. Here are some photos of the damage for now.

aarond0083, in order for them to take care of warranty, you have to register if you haven't done so already. _________________

Man, that sucks. Sounds like they might have some quality control issues to work out. It's always safer to wait for a company to work out the kinks on a new product. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Wakebrad, wish I did that. None of the shops here are carrying them because of all the rumors of Ronix decks being crap.

Here it is guys. It looks like I dropped the handle right before I landed, which slowed my rotation causing me to catch a hard edge. It did not hurt until I looked down and saw my board.

| aarond0083, actually not a bad attempt. You let off your edge a little at the wake. You don't really need to edge that far out either. Stand a little taller at the wake. Stick with it. You almost have it. |

what jpminter said. you had a little too much edge too early, and not enough when you needed it. but you're close man _________________

| Letting off my edge early would explain why I am not getting tons of pop too I guess. I don't feel like I am in the air very long when I throw the rotation. Thanks for the tips. I'll be back at it this weekend. |

I think he meant register with the warranty card that came with your board. |

| I did the same thing last year when I was at the wakeboard camp. Pulled out to sets of threads on the board doing it twice. I kept under rotating so the nose would catch and my back foot would keep going. |

Yeah, I learned the hard way. Bought one of the first Substances that came out and it delaminated on me first time out. My friend's did the same. The first batch was obviously faulty. Now I try to wait until it's been out at least 9 months to see how they are holding up. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

OK, well now I am not happy. I contacted Ronix and everything is covered under warranty. They told me to contact Wakeside regarding the return and replacement.
Now here is where I get pissed. Wakeside wants me to ship the board and bindings back to them at my cost. I don't have the original boxes so I guess they expect me to pay for packing along with shipping. They did offer to ship me boxes but I am on the opposite coast so I guess this is my option. Wait 7-8 days for a box, pack them up, pay to have it shipped back, wait 7-8 days for wakeside to receive it, wait for them to decide that is is defective, wait 7-8 days for my replacement. Looks like it is going to take a month to get a new board. I can't believe they will not drop ship to me like every other online business. I am done buying from Wakeside. |

Yep, another reason to buy local. That sucks man..
If you need a box for it call your local shop. They typically just throw away the boxes when they get new boards so they should be able to save you one. I picked up one from a local shop easy. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

Everytime I've warrantied I've had to pay for shipping, I guess it'd be good customer service for them to pick up the tab, but why should they be expected to pay just for acting as the middleman. _________________

I feel I should update my post as my faith has been restored in Wakeside. What I ended up having to do is purchase a new ONE board and pair of bindings from Wakeside. They are going to put return shipping labels in with the new setup. Once I get my new board and bindings, I will pack up my broken ones and ship them back for a refund to my credit card. I like this much better because I get my setup a lot faster and I get a fresh pair of boots, when all I really needed was one base plate.
The bad part is the boots in size 10 are not in stock so I will have to wait 1-2 weeks for the boots to ship. I will use an old pair of Murray bindings in the meantime. |

| I understand your frustration aarond0083 with the having to pay for the shipping but the warranty only covers the equipment. You are still responsible for getting it to the dealer. Just be glad you only have to pay a few dollars for shipping and not the cost to replace a whole set up. |

they should cover shipping because they sell the product and endorse it. he didnt buy a board from ronix, he bought a board from wakeside.
down side to owning a buisness is sometimes the product you sell brakes and you have to take responsibility for it. |

I love it. Pretty fast board, huge pop, and the landings have been soft so far.
Also, I received a brand new board and pair of boots exactly 7 days after breaking my first setup. Props to Ronix and Wakeside. |
