Yep, very possible. Not easy, but if you get the basic wake jumps, 180s, 3s, and such. After these the backroll should be no problem. |

If you think your wake is too small, look up "air backrolls". There are lots of folks on this board that can do backrolls in the flats, without a wake at all.
In "The Book - Inverts" they use a air R2R as a training tool to learn the backroll. |

because they don't put outboard on wakeboarding boats. It's not that the engine itself is better, actually an outboard could benefit a wakeboarding boat because you can adjust the trim and push the back of the boat down further. In general though, outboard-equipped boats aren't well suited to wakeboarding _________________

Also, outboards are a heck of a lot lighter than inboards
Think about it, An out board is a small stroke motor, placed on the drive. Where and inboard has a car motor, usually a v8, with some times a transfercase if it is a V drive, and the tranny, prop and rutter _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

What's a "rutter"?
Also, I am not sure what "small stroke" has to do with anything.
Bigger weight does mean bigger wake though. |

abrider, the rutter is the steering mechanism on inboard boats. as far as smaller stroke, this means the block is smaller. _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

oh, you mean rudder.
As for small stroke=small block, not necessarily, for constant displacement, the stroke and bore are both factors, although I understand that smaller stroke usually means smaller blocks. Smaller strokes mean lower piston velocity and so for a given horsepower, higher piston force. This can wear out the linkages. Larger strokes can be designed to give bigger moment arms on the linkages connected to the driveshafts and thus higher torques at the load. |
