|
|
i just got a new rope and the shortest i can come in with it is 70ft and with my old rope i rode at like 60ft. i know i was getting alot more air today(the first time riding at 70ft) but i am out of control in the air which i think is due to more line tension, how long do yall think it will be till i stop going outta control and being able to do some actual tricks
by the way, not knowing if it makes a difference i am going 22.5mph at 70ft. and i was going 22mph at 60ft. and the reason i got a new rope was cause the old one was ripping so we took it back and now i am stuck with the long one, but i think in the long run i am going to need it to be longer anyways... |

QNev, the knots are always where the line breaks, it puts exess pressure on one point and weard through. I would recommend not tying any extra knots in your rope. _________________

Yeah, longer isn't necessarily better on some boats. You just need to be at the part where the wake is cleanest and not mushy or anything. You can shorten the rope by just tying it off early.... _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

ride where you are comfortable. Don't let the line dictate your distance. Tying knots into the line is a good idea but you have to know how to do it right. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

There is a way to retie the rope w/o knots,
do a search, one is the clove hitch |

| yeah i dont think i will tie the knots in my rope because i dont wanna mess it up, but will having this length help me in the long run since i will have more time to do tricks(hopefully someday) because i will have longer air time |

I don't think a longer rope gives you more airtime....but i could be wrong. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Justin 25, you are wrong...
Technically it doesn't give it to you but it puts it out there for the taking....
Ride with the longest rope you can ride with for the boat, wake combo you have.
The longer the rope the more air time you can generate. _________________ PEACE

J_DOGG, that's true when you get to that level. But when learning it's better to ride a length that's managable until you get there. When you get comfortable at that length and are working on progressing and getting bigger air you can use the next loop in the line.
jakenj, if you ride this length a lot learn how to tie a knot in the line correctly so it doesn't slip. It won't hurt anything if you do it right. _________________ You have just entered the twilight zone. |

For a longer rope u need to edge in faster to clear both wakes n it's more likely for you to flatten your board b4 hitting the wake. That's why you are not consistant on clearing the wake w/ a 75 ft rope. |

Longer line allows you to setup longer on your cuts in and prepare for your trick. I really enjoy riding longer and personally enjoy the extra air time due to the distance travelled. You may need to speed up a little to make use of that longer line. You should not feel like your sinking when cutting into the wake, you should be acelerating.
Longer lines are the best behind a boat with a generally narrow beam and a lot of weight. 75ft behind my wakesetter the wake is almost the same distance as my buddies super air at 85ft.
Now behind my old 1989 sunsetter we ran around 70 ft because we couldnt keep enough weight in the boat to get a good wake and still get on plane. _________________ Hold up....Wait a minute.... Let me put some pimpin in it! mmmmph |
