i've been using liquid force bindings for years and never had any problems with them... and they're comfortable... but maybe that's just my good luck?

I am extremely hard on equipment since I weigh 225 and always try to go as big as possible. Very Happy I have ripped several sets of bindings and was wondering what held up best over time as well. Thanks.

every pair of bindings is gonna rip or break in some way eventually. i think that bindings with the least different parts are gonna be the most durable as in bindings without laces, boa, straps etc. these seem to be the parts that break most often. also go for bindings that arent super tight. the tighter they are the more likely they are to tear.

2003 Hyperlite Belmonts, only had the overlays replaced once because of user error. Besdies that one time they have held up great and are pretty damn comfy. The 2002 yellow ultra suctions with the 03 overlays have held up extremly well also.

i had the 03 belmonts. wasnt so happy with them. they were pretty comfy. not as comfy as the new bindings. I ripped both overlays out and the toe piece of one binding out, but other than that they were great. oh and i think the little claw teeth got wron down when my bolt loosened and the binding shifted. I hate to be a negative nancy but for everyone who has a positive experience with a binding htere are two more who had a negatie experience.

The older NICE bindings are pretty darn near indestructible.

just get some older hyperlites, like highbacks or 30-60's. They're all foam and rubber, and anything that tears on them can be replaced for cheap.

it doesn't seem like the newer bindings are nearly as durable as the older style ones.

case and point... my girlfriend got the LF minx 2 months ago and the "inner padded cuff" has worn so badly they've torn.

seems pretty silly to me

Has anyone had 04 or 05 Alpha's tear or become unridable? It seems those are actually pretty tough for some reason.

steve-o, the new bindings are definitely seem to be more prone to breakage. this does not mean the older bindings dont break but with all the new parts and features there are more things to break.

gene3x, yes Sad . My 04 Alphas were my favorite bindings ever and lasted 3 years of almost daily riding april-october. They were holding up perfectly till this summer because I started yanking te laces down tight so they frayed and ripped (no biggie, u can use a shoelace or buy the real alphas laces through LF) and I started keeping them outdoors (in sun and humidity) more so they eventually started cracking on the overlays in the back and ripped. If you stored them inside I doubt that would happen and if it did you can replace the overlay for 40-50 bucks from LF. I would have done it but I got a deal on 06 alphas for 125 (half price). There are some things about the new ones I like better but I still think I liked the 04s better.

Ive always wondered if putting vasoline or lotion or something on rubber overlays would keep them from cracking and ultimately ripping. Anyone done it?

I really liked the look of the 05 Alpha's with the fixed plates. They just looked simpler and stronger. Nothing fancy or anything extra to break. Unfortunatly, the only new 05' Alpha's I could find recently, were XL and too big for me.

1 - Wiley's Tri Axis are indestructable.

2 - The LF Ultra Sucks last forever if you like a loose fit above the ankle.

3 - Hyperlite High Backs are built extremely well.

My favorite bindings are a pair of 2002 Belmonts that I put 2000 original Belmont overlays on. I've ridden in them year round for five seasons now, and their still the most comfortable binding I've ever worn.

I would agree that the lf ultra suctions seem to last forever although I have never owned them, but all my friends who have them have had them forever and never have problems.

I disagree with the highback comments, I had those and they ripped all the time.

I now have Hyperlite Parks, the older version from like 3 years ago. Not one problem yet and I ride a lot and all year round living in S. Fl

No you have that backwards

Should read:

I assume you hardly ride, right?

Seriously though, Collective Development was the absolute sh*t. You can thank them for ALL of the bindings we have today. You can also call out LF for stealing a good portion of their designs in 04.

Anyhow, that is water under the bridge. They made really really really high quality equipment, with great design, comfort, and hold.

gene3x, all of them are good.

PS01, PS02, FS01, FS02, AS01, AS02, WS01, WS02.

Good stuff.

Check them out at WW.Com. You will have to dig to find some though as they stopped producing in 04. http://www.wakeworld.com/boots/getcompany.asp?companyid=364

Alternatively, Concrete is made using similar process (IIRC they were the MFG behind CD). Ask itch about those.

Look on ebay, the bindings pop up often on there. I search for Collective development bindings. Usually under 150 bucks.

Liquidmx, I just ran that search and got 3 auction hits and about 10 store hits.

gene3x, what size are you? I have a new Medium set in the box at home. Color is funky (black and yellow with blue), but they are spankin new.

I'll second that. I love my PS01s. The ONLY problems with them is that they take forever to get into and the mounting screws can come loose after a day of hard riding. I've been abusing mine for 3 seasons now and they're still good as new. You can find them on ebay for super cheap these days, since they're discontinued and not many people know about them. I've seen them auction off for like $30 (I paid $160 on a "closeout" deal 3 years ago).

I am a L or XL I wear a size 11.5 and am right inbetween sizes in the LF bindings so I chose the Large and stretch them out.

Looks like I would need an XL in the CD bindings. Do you guys know if this is true? It says Large fits size 8-10. I have a long narrow foot so sometimes can even get in an 11 shoe but my toe is always too long. They hang over the edge in the Large Transits.

gene3x, I am a L in CD, and I wear a 9. I think it is safe to say you are an XL.

I don't see why everyone thinks the ultras are so durable. I ripped a pair in less than one summer.

Only 2 hours left on this pair. So far the high bid is just $10.50!!
