Stoked to find this board. New to here, not to the scene.

Here's the skin:
97 Nautique Sport 21, open bow, 5.7 G40 motor. Thats it. Not worried about the accessories, I'll do that.

She was worked pretty hard. About 700 hrs on her. Motor however is super tight and everything works well.

I can score it for less than 15K.

Is this a good boat? If she was sacked up, throw a decent ramp? Any opinions would be great as I know very little about Natuiques. Thanks.

That would be an excellent hull for wake, but will require weight. If it is a direct drive, weight will take up a lot of your walking room. If it's a v-drive, it may be the deal of the century. 700 hours is not much time when you conside most people here who board often probably put 150hours a season on their boat.

Thanks man. Should have said before, it's a direct drive. Cant afford a V drive yet. I have 15K cash to work with and know Nautiques are well made. I just dont know about the wake being thrown behind it.

And there is some considerable fat sack room behind the rear seat. Very Happy

Sounds like a good deal. Lots of hours but if it's been maintained you should be good. Will throw a great wake, vertical. For less than $15k that sounds like a good deal to me.

Comming. It's winterized on a rack in storage right now. Warehouse was too dark. They should have it out on a dolly any day. I'll post up when I get em.

It's beat up a bit. Apholstry is fine, cept for the rear seat which has the piping comming apart. And there is some dock rash all around it here and there, but i'm thinking about 40-50% will rub out. No hard hits. The below ballast hull is spotless, not a scratch. Spent it's life on Lake Shasta in a berth most of the summers. Belonged to a very small Christian College.

Loppy, Yeah we hit Folsom a lot. There are a lot of Nor-Cal guys here.

Check the boat for any kind of blistering. If it sat in the water for long periods, that could be an issue.

Thats the problem, they have no service records on it and the college just wants it gone, so they are no help. I'm VERY familiar with the 5.7 TBI engine though, and they're as tough as they come. Not worried about the motor. More worried about seals, tranny, chit like that.

Will do, thanks for the tip.

Hope to hook up with some of you guys this summer. We're talking about a polar bear run soon, interested? Shocked

this boat has a great wake, when weighted. Put full sacks on both sides of the engine
then figure out the weight behind the engine and in the walk through

ive ridden behind one with just the full side sacks, with abou 6 people in the boat, and the wake was great, very nice ramp - with a nice lip

Thanks Seth.

Yeah, did some more digging last night. I'm good buds with Wakeboarding legend and pioneer Mike Rogers. We had a good chat last night and gave the boat nothing but huge kudos. 98 is when they fawked up the hull design and even the factory riders stuck with their 97's for years because they loved them so much. Very Happy

If Mike likes it, I'm all over it.

Actually, the Sport/Air hull has not really changed since 93. In 98 CC built a "Pro Air" which had a different hull, but the Air was/is still available.

It does NOT have the GT40 like I thought. It's the 260 horse 5.7 TBI. not a big deal to me, I know the TBI motor inside and out. Reliability is awesome. The motor looks almost brand new.

That boat is SICK!!!! And I am a die hard Supra guy. the 5.7L is better, you'll love having Fuel Injection. The interior looks real good too. If the college is really desperate, low ball them, and offer to take off there hands. Does it have a trailer?

A tower/pylon and some weight on the sides, oooooooh, nice setup.

Hope you get it man, would love to see that thing loaded.

And welcome to the boards man, from down southland. Cool

Thanks Haugy, you all have been very nice to this newbie. I really appreciate it.

There were three motors avail. in this boat. 5.7 TBI - 260 HP (this boat). 5.7 MPI - 290 HP and the Ford GT40 - 310 HP. The MPI and GT40 have great power, however suck more fuel and are a bit more complicated being multi port. I'm no stranger to the old TBI (throttle body) motor. I run one in my Jeep rockcrawler now (read spare motor Laughing ) They are tough as any motor out there, have decent torque, super reliable and there's nothing you cant fix on em without a blunt rock and some duct tape.

Because of the lower max RPM (4400) of the TBI vs. the other two (5200-5600) PCM put the "overdrive" trans on it. I believe it's 1.3:1 or so ratio. Therefore, top end is really no different in the boats. The TBI is just going to be a little more sluggish out of the hole. NO big to me. As long as I can get to the goo-wa same time as my other buds, I'm fine. Cool

Price: I KNOW I can score this thing for 15K. It's gunna take alot of elbow grease to clean her up, so I'm shooting for 14. Even at 15, I think it's a smoke'n deal.

Yes, it comes with a Correct Craft, fully tube frame trailer with flip tounge. Very Happy

All I'm gunna do is clean her up. Toss a skylon with racks, new binini, toss the rear seat and throw a fat sofa in and go porkchop myself up. Twisted Evil

Loppy, sorry to hijack. But you said my second favorite word next to boats. JEEP. Mr. Green Did I hear rockcrawler??? Tell ya what I am trying to finish up.

80 CJ7 with a Ford 351W with GT-40 heads. Carbed
Dana300 with twin sticks
14-bolt rear, detroit locker, with 4.88s
Planning on a 3/4 ton D44 or D60 front, that's what's holding me up no front axle.
38 or 39 inch TSL fronts, boggers rear

What do you play on the rocks with?

Hollywood, I'm still new to nautiques but FWIK the differences are very slight...nothing that would drastically change the wake shape/size/hardness at speed as loppy stated. This is why I assumed he was referring to the Pro air. However, if I'm mistaken please, by all means, correct me.
