| Try taking a little shorter, more aggresive approach. That will give you more "explosion" off the wake. Since you are doing a long cut...it doesnt give you as much acceleration (flip wise) off the wake. Good luck! |

you are trying to throw (really really a throw invert though) the roll at the bottom of the wake. you are almost a quarter the way around as you leave hte wake. you want to ride up the wake and try to edge the board away from the boat.
3 steps to learn it.
1.learn to do a proper progressive edge (your's isn't bad, it's just not strong eneough for a good backroll
2. take a shorter approach.
3. wait longer to 'throw' into the roll. |

as stated already, you need to take a shorter cut but with a better progressive edge.
In addition, your knees are bent way too much. I can't tell if you are trying to jump off the wake or if you are absorbing pop. Either way, you are losing a bunch of energy through the wake. You need to rotate a lot faster too. _________________

hmm, doesn't look as if you're popping enough..
don't think too much about the backroll first but more about leaving the wake cleanly first, then initiate the backroll ? |

Hockey8720, I think everything has been covered. But you got past a big step in getting over the fear of being upsidedown. Where do you ride at in San Jose? I ride up at berryessa in Napa if you ever need a third pm me. _________________ |

Something not already mentioned.....
NO need to squat down like that it kills your line load... Hips and chest up with the handle in close, you should almost be standing tall but leaning back on the line. the best advice is to do almost nothing of the wake except for looking up and away.
The hip thrust, head huck does nothing but make you leave early and waste line load.
If you rock back on edge and do nothing but hold that position into the wake you will be in a much better position leaving the wake.
Remember you usually land very similar to how you leave the wake. _________________ PEACE

I usually ride at calero, anderson and coyote. I went up to berryessa on labor day but gas is just too much to go that far too often. Ill hit you up though if you feel like comin down to san jose?

| Look how flat your board is coming into the wake. You really need to dig your edge in to load up the line. Whenever I'm not getting as much pop as I would like on my rolls and r2r's it's usually because my board is too "flat" approaching the wake. Really think about digging your heels in to create that load especially right at and right before the wake. |

Unless you want to add a blind rotation to it, a backroll is a lot like a railey.
- load the line hard and get the board out in front of you
- as you enter the trough, shift your your feet forward (to the wake) so the board moves in front of you
- As you come up the wake, stand up over the board so that as it comes off the wake it's flying up behind and to your right (since you're goofy)
- look over your right shoulder so you'll see the water coming around
- pull in on the handle and your body will rotate around the rope
If you learn it this way you'll be rewarded with huge pop and easy landings. |
