I'm trying to learn a toeside frontroll as my first invert and i'm getting REALLY REALLY CLOSE but after like 8 tries I am still barely underrotating. My board is what hits the water first but my body is tilted back too much to stick it. what usually happens is i come in with a really hard toeside edge and trip the wake/wait for the pop. my friends say i'm getting plenty of air and i land out in the flats but i just can't seem to rotate that little bit faster so i stick it.... how do i rotate faster?????? or what am i doing wrong??

If your pop is good enough it sounds like you might need more speed. Remember on trip flip edges it's that edge change or stopping at the wake that initiates the flip. Going faster will automatically give you more momentum to complete the rotation. Try it!

K-wood Kid, why, do you want to apply ice to them???? LOL.....

Snap the head down off the wake, the goal is to over rotate this trick so you land on your toes....

Sounds like you are right there, keep at it.

I agree with JDOGG, really ride up the wake, don't be a wuss and really throw your head down fast to start the rotation, finish by trying to put the handle directly on your front hip (you won't be able to keep it there the entire rotation, but try and get it back there at the end of the trick)

Also as JDOGG said, overrotate the trick - when you fall out over your toes to a nice face plant, you'll have it in the next couple of tries

ya my friend learned a crow as his first TS invert. that mother fu--er tried 5 scarecrows and then landed it. ever since then he lands it like 80 percent of the time. anyways i like to learn everything that goes into a trick as to prevent from bad technique. plus i like having more tricks in my arsenal.

Well you said everything that goes into a trick before you learn it so there is the progression from ts frontroll on.

Laughing K-wood Kid, you are confused. i meant i like to learn what the trick consists of before learning that trick. for example, learn TS Frontrolls and TS FS 180's before you learn a scarecrow.

You guys are some ignorant bastards( ohio wake and k-wood kid ).Just cause you guys have a acouple inverts you think you can make fun of some learning one like there gonna steal your steam or something. Go wakeboard or something you fags.
As for the frontroll you probably dont need to rotate any faster just stayed tucked longer so you kid of over rotate it. Keep your head down till you seen the shore then open up and keep your chest real far over your toes.

I have the same problem... I have been trying them for some time now, but I just can't land on my toes. I always keep sliding out on my back.

I know the problem is with the handle, i just keep it too far in front of me.

Hope I land one soon...

That's actually a really good idea. I sort of wish I would of done that, because i use to have a really bad crow because i would like whip it weird. But now that i have ts fronts i just take it like a front but then pull the handle over and it looks better that way. It also sets you up so you can do tricks easier later on. Once you nail a ts front, a bet a crow will come in 3-4 tries.

One thing that really helps is that you need to ride ALL the way up the wake. Some people try to initate the trick way to fast which will give you crappy pop. Try waiting just a split second longer and you will be able to feel the pop off of the wake. Then just try to land on your toes.. but if you land on your heels just hold on and you can most likely sketch it out.

bhamglassman, You have the right thought process but some times it's better to go with your natural tendencies...

Meaning, you might land the crow first like most people do then go back to the TS front roll.. You could spend a month learning the TS Front or learn the crow after 5 attempts and then go back to the TS front. Learning tricks in a progressive manner is good habit to get into it's just not always conducive to learning new tricks.

As an example:
Why kill yo self on a HS 3 when you can learn the TS 3 first and then work on the HS 3 after. Go with what you are most comfortable with IMO....
