If you can do a straight back flip on the ground, then go with the tantrum, but make sure your good enough at edging and wake jumps and all before you start trying.

Not really, what you need to have is a nice HS Wake jump (That you can take wake to wake and/or out into the flats), and a nice progessive edge into the wake.

Read the sites trick tip on the Tantrum-
http://www.wakeboarder.com/tricks/tantrum.phtml

And more importantly read the sites trick tip on the HS progressive edge-
http://www.wakeboarder.com/display.phtml?a=50

It doesnt take much if you have a true release off the wake.

I think Backrolls are easier but if you can do back flips on the ground go with a Tantrum. I can do backflips on ground now but i learned a backroll befor i could do backflips on ground have fun.

i tried backrolls first with little succes, but then i tried tatrums and found them a lot easier and if you can flip off the ground you can do a tatrum. if your wake has a nice lip a tatrum will be easier b/c it will triip you, if your wakr is more mellow a backroll will be easierb/c you can edge al the way through the wake.

weby, if you can do a strait backflip on the ground, then go with the tantrum. I learned a backroll first, but once i could do backflips on a trampoline, i landed a tantrum on my second try. Backrolls on the other hand took me about 74801 trys. If the tantrum seems to be too hard, go ahead and try a backroll or two.

Once you learn one, learn the other.

I also started with the backroll, could not land it if my life depended on it..
did it about 74802 times to get it.. Tantrum on the other hand i landed in two weeks or something...

Just try both and go with seems more natural to you..!

progressive edge is the key to both of them.
