It seems like rainy season wants to come a little more quickly than usual, so I thought that I should make sure my cover will work during the rain.

The cover is 8 years old and has never been rewaterproofed. I was thinking of just scrubbing the cover down with soap and water, hosing it off and after it is dry put it on my boat and spray a few cans of scotch guard on it. Any suggestions on my procedure or recommendations for somthing better than scotch guard would be appreciated.

303 Fabric Guard would be a much better choice. Click the link to read about it.

NautiqueJeff, good call. that is the best stuff on the market although it is a bit pricey. Another good one is starbright waterproofing. A gallon is only like $22 and it works pretty good. the key is to really saturate the cover with the waterproofing and make sure it is clean first.

Your local Dry cleaner will clean your cover for you and then use the 303, Seems to work much better that Scotchguard.

Do you know if your cover is made with Sunbrella fabric? They recommend 303 and have some good info at http://www.sunbrella.com/usa/carecleaning_awningmarine.shtml on this subject
