alright i think your HS frontflip is really a HS backroll.

so here it is. I take a pretty big approach, once your out there as soon as the boat starts to pull you in, get on edge hard and fast. hold this edge untill you start to ride up the wake, once you get there, stop edging and bring your shoulders back. as you coast up the wake try to do the front flip and land on your face, while putthing the handle near your butt. its kind of hard to spot the landing on this. so land and ride away easy.

ok, i dont know why you would say my front is a backroll but whatever. I've been doing a backroll for 2 years and i just mastered my tantrums and my front flip. I just wanted help on the TS roll cuz I have a WWA tournament in a week. Thanx anyway.

TS front, here it goes.

1. Progressive edge.

2. Start to flatten up as you approach the wake, probably no more than 5 feet, as your riding up.

3. Try to be as flat on the wake as possible and REALLY emphasize standing tall and dipping your shoulders forward at the take-off. You should still have two hands on the handle.

4. As your coming down from it try to keep yourself from going to scarecrow (sorry can't really tell you how to do this)

5. When your kinda in between 3/4 and half the rotation (you should probably let go with that back hand about now), you really need to empasize KICKING YOUR HEELS down to prevent you from falling on your heels. If you don't kick your heels behind you, you will land on your heels and probably slide out on the landing or land on your back. Really important to land on the toes.

he says your backroll looks like a front roll... but its not. its a mexi-backroll. a backroll is suppose to look like a cartwheel. a mexi-backroll is a backroll, but when you tip your head forward. it is still a backroll, but it actually looks more like a frontroll. look for a video comparing the normal backroll to the mexican backroll. ive seen one once.

a real front roll is a lot harder! you actually cartwheel tip first. with a backroll, you lean back and use the wake to throw you around. with a frontroll, you actually use the wake to just get you in the air. the roll has to be hucked because it is not a natural rotation at all. you know how a tantrum has the "trip-flip" edge. imagine the trip flip on the nose of your board instead of on your HS edge.

i dont know if any of this makes sense to you, but people often mistake front rolls for mexi-backrolls!

now, because you have not posted a video, im not saying you cant do a real frontroll... just know that mexi-backrolls are easily mistaken!

i myself cannot do a real backroll yet. im learning it doing the mexi-roll way. i thought it was a backroll until someone told me i was doing a frontroll. i took a video of myself and it kinda does look like a frontroll... heres my attempt at a backroll, but it's actually a mexi-roll...

...wow thats a long post

i'm tempted to tell you to try a scarecrow first, cause i learned that before a front roll. but fundamentally it's probably better to learn the straight front roll first. Anyway, the key is the trip flip edge, and letting go with your back hand 2/4 of the way through.

pick up a copy of Waketrix, or Detention. They will clearly define what is what, and walk you through visually, how to do the front roll. I've almost done a front flip, so I'm not much help. Maybe check out some of the trick instructionals on this site, WW or go through old issues of magazines. The mags often are the best to learn stuff from. It probably won't help you for your contest, but there is always next year.

Lifeless44, you had me confused because a front flip is a hard trick. not doubting you can do it. but it just seems weird that your first or second invert was a frontflip, not usually the norm
