boat has seperate jabsco reversable pumps for each sack.
started almost two weeks ago, the center/ski locker pump after a day of riding id go to drain, and it would drain part then stop. or not start at all. or run for 2-10 seconds then stop. but if you would wait 2-10 minutes it would work fine and drain.

following trips it got more frequent. again end of the day draining. wouldnt work at all (light on switch would be on though), but if youd wait a bit it would work. last time out it wouldnt drain even after waiting. well i gave up and headed back to dock, then while waiting on the trailer, hit the drain switch and it worked.

well today, go out and at the begining this time, tryed to fill. it wouldnt come on. tried several times threwout the night never would come on. once maybe for 1 second, then quit.

any ideas?

You are under warranty with this boat. Make the dealer fix all your stuff for you now! Smile You should not have to wrench on that new ride at all.

Did you check the wires to the jabsco to see if those would kick start the pump when it is not working?

Let them change your pumps or fix your switches. When I had my new Supra in 04/05 we lost our pumps 2 times and the guys at South Austin Marine took care of them asap for me.

lol warrantee only lasts a year right? that ran out in february. plus i hate stealerships, and dont want to loose 2+ weeks of riding.
yeah thats my first idea. first iliminate the switch give the pump power manually. then slowely move closer to the pump doing the same.
i did crawl under the dash, i cant find a fuse panel for the balast switchs. i found the fuse panel for everything else. but no ballast fuses.

like i said the intermititing is going to make it hard to diagnose, when i get it to work i wont know if i found the problem, or if it just started working again.

Do you have voltage at the pump when the problem occurs? My bet is that the pumps failing and needs to be replaced, that would confirm it.

ok a little update. followed the hose and figured out where the pumps were, then after forever FINALLY figured out how to remove the screwless cover panel and found the pumps.
unfortunatly of course the system was working perfectly while i was trying to diagnose. pump coming on every time.
checked voltage and of course it was getting voltage at the pump, because everythign was fine.
so while i was there i checked the impeller, it was one of the good green impellers and was in perfect condition. no wear at all.
i did notice the center/front pump was slightly louder than the rear pumps when running, but my face was right there so they all seemed pretty damn loud.

so my origonal hunch was right, its an electrical issue not a impeller issue.
im going to take my voltmeter and a jumper wire with me to the lake today. to try and diagnose if the pump quits again.

I thought Moombas had a 3 year bow to stern warranty.

no clue, but like i said in post #3 i hate stealerships and not going to loose 2+ weeks of riding.
we took it out yesterday and of course it worked flawlessly all night. so didnt get the chance to further diagnose. Sad

2+ weeks? Wow ... all of my (minor) warranty issues were addressed the same day. Just had to call the dealership in advance to schedule the visit. I guess it just goes to show that each dealer is different.

That said, looks like the Moomba warranty on everything but the engine and hull is 1 year, so probably on your own anyway. I imagine you've already attempted to get the pump to stop working by wiggling the wires on the switch as well as the pump?

LOL well i didnt actually call to check turnaround time, especially with appointment. but its still an 1.5 hour drive each way. just dont want to fool with any dealership. prefer to do things myself.
yeah i did wiggle switch wires and pump harness. couldnt make anything happen or not happen.

Depending on how "cool" your dealsership is you may just be able to have them mail you a new pump and you send back the old one, warranty should cover the part cost.

yeah they did that with me when my stereo drivers controls went out. mailed me the part and i put it in myself.

ok so we get the lake last night and the center pump wont come on, i imidiatly take the switch panel off and grab the volt meter. they have a common power and ground to all 3 switches so its real easy to see where the power comes to the panel. the weird part is the top and bottom spade tab were powered up even when the switches were off.....so i couldnt figure out how to test the switch. anyone have a wireing diagram for these ballast switches?

so i decided to check to see if the pump was getting voltage. by the time we opened the rear hatch were the pumps are and got stuff out of the way to pull the cover panel, its started working again perfectly. so didnt get to diagnose anything yet again Sad

found this. yikes, being reversable looks like the wire is a lot more complicated. havent figured out why the toggle tabs of the switch were always powered though.

What do you mean the toggle tabs of the switch were always powered? That wiring really isn't that complicated, maybe just a little confusing.
Basically your inputs (i.e. +12v and ground) go to B and E, respectively.

When the switch is flipped up, whatever is connected to B (in this case +12v) should now be connected to A. Whatever is connected to E should be connected to D.

When you flip the switch down, whatever is connected to B is now connected to C and whatever is connected to E is now connected to F.

When the switch is in the center position, there should be nothing on A,D,C, or F.

B and E should always be +12v and 0.

Hopefully that helps a little

by always powered, i meant even with the switch too off. when using the common ground and the other lead of the voltmeter on the postive top tab (cant remember if it was A or D now) it was showing ~12v, which i was not expecting. ususally when i switch is off that would be 0v
but i checked the other good working pump switches and they were all the same way.

it is so much better when it is flat out broke.. that way you can figure stuff out faster. this on again off again is going to drive you crazy..

could be wrong here but if you touch the hot and ground with the voltage tester and they are both on the battery side of the switch they will show hot because you are completing the circuit via the voltage meter, sort of bypassing the switch, but you probably did figure out that you were getting power to the switch at least, you need to test the hot on the pump side of the switch when the switch is in the on position, in this example i think you should check A and D as your hot and ground respectively when the switch is on, if they show voltage the switch is ok, if emptying you would check C for hot and F for ground, you may have done that just thinking out loud trying to help out man, and i may be completely wrong too

pump finally gave up the ghost...
jabsco 18220-7127
i called the stealership and they do have one for $290 + tax + the 3 hours on the road to get it.(they also confermed the part number)

well i google that number and google nor yahoo could find ONE SINGLE hit on that number

but there are a million hits for the 18220-1127 which wakemakers sells as well. $209

it looks 99% identical but obviously the part number is wrong. i wonder what the difference is? and why cant google find a single hit on my part number?

i wonder if the difference is the plug thats on mine for moomba and only sold to SC not public (ie why google cant find anything)? (1127 has no plug) or possibly the impeller type although both come with the nice green impellers.

any one have any knowledge with this?

It should be the same pump that barefoot sells. They are probably getting it from somewhere other than BFI(or they would get an email about MAP violation from BFI). I know we have a jabsco that BFI has at $239.99 MAP price so it could be the same.

I have seen a few different Jabsco pumps from the V&V marine distributor in north texas that are a little different from the BFI pump. Some come with a switch and some have not in the past. I think currently they come with a switch.

Stang...you spend a bunch of time just to save a few bucks.. I could have just picked up the pump on my way into Boardstop on Monday and shipped it to you or you could drive and get it from me. Call the local dealership and ask them if they would just match that price you found online and that Ed will pick up the pump. then you can get the exact pump and not have any headache. Everytime you waste not having your PHAT ballast is a day on the water that could not stress you out about that pump. Smile

Is you boat not under warranty any more? What warranty period does Moomba offer? I thought you'd get at least one year parts and service and then an additional year of parts. I'd be pissed if stuff started breaking already on my new boat and it wasn't covered under warranty.

i assume its not. i assumed 1 year warrantee. never checked to be honest. first new thing ive ever bought.

i went ahead and ordered the 1127 pump from wakemakers sunday morning and poped for the UPS shipping so i can have it by this weekend when we road trip to the Brazos river.

Ed huge thanks for the offer!

i am going to orient the new pump different. moomba had the impeller mounted verically above the motor for this one pump (the other two are upside down and sideway) so that allowed water to leak im sure into the motor down the shaft. so im going to rotate the pump 180 degrees so the impeller/water is below the motor. ill have to swap my fill/drain wires if the hose wont reach after the flip.

Weird my 2004 Mobius LSV came with a 3 year bow to stern warranty. May be that is only offered at the boat shows or something.
