Well, you can always make the wake bigger by adding ballast. If the boat has a 3.0L i wouldn't buy it unless your getting an amazing deal on it. Your gonna want the power of a 4.3L or a 5.0 if your adding ballast. Typically you want to add weight towards the bow on I/O's. Also what is your budget on a new boat? You can pick up some nice wakeboats under 20k and they will hold there value as a I/O will not.Look here on improving your I/O and look here for budget wakeboats

dirtydave,
A friend of mine has one and I personally dislike it. The wake was about midway to my knee, and i was literally jumping to make it across. It also isn't roomie at all. Very cramped inside. I'd keep looking if I were you.

dirtydave, it isn't going to be a GREAT wakeboat by any means but it all depends on your needs. Most importantly, if it satisfies your need to get on the water and behind a boat and you want to upgrade in a few years then it would be fine.

My buddy had a 185 as well, wasn't a bad boat but like chad said, very cramped inside. Should have the 4.3 in it. Throw a sack in the walkway and trim it up. The few times I was in it we had a 650 in the walkway and maybe 400 in the locker. Wasn't too bad, kinda mooshy though. Struggled to get on plane with that weight, but that was also with stock prop.

The wake on the smaller SR's (175 and 185) are decent. It is a well build boat and will last for years. I agree get the 4.3 or dont bother.

I have the 205 sport, and that throws out a great wake, and has the 5.0 mpi for very good ooomph. If you can get to the 205 instead of the 185 it will make a big difference with power, wake and room inside.

I like having an i/o for rough waters, thus our choice vs. an inboard

sounds like im gonna hold out and get a real wake boat... i have a lewis mirage 1994 wit heaps of ballest at the mo and its ok but to small and the wake is just not cutting it anymore! it ends in tears when we go for big raleys and hoochys cause the wakes not big enough! im in australia and wake boats are quite expensive thats why i thought id look into sea rays...

thanx all
