I know there was a post similar to this but hey, its a message board, so let's start a new subject. What tricks are out there right now that you can't stand to see or just think is strait up U-G-L-Y.

For me, it is the super poked out tail grab that everyone is doing. Ughhhh I think it is probably the ugliest trick ever. I also hate the stalefish grab where they are really poking the board forward, even worse than the tail.
Those are my two, what are yours?!?

On and the Ricky G indy pete.

ilubronix, i agree on the tail grab, it's pretty awkward looking. i think most tricks look good, but it bothers me when someone doesn't have any style. There have been a few vids posted on here that the person could RIP but it was all U-G-L-Y

I think pokin out grabs gives a rider so much style. The way Benny G can grab and poke a 5 or 7 is absolutely sick. Or Harris just launching off a double up and holding a poking a grab for what seems like forever! Im not 100% sure what its called, but its a heel front flip with a frontside 180. Front to revert? But most pros that do them are ugly. Lyman and Byerly are the only guys that I have seen make the trick look good. Ha I wish I could atleast do one that looked ugly though...

I think you're right with the poked tail and stalefish. I do both but just to vary it up. My favorite is still a poked nose like in my profile picture...errr just noticed my profile picture is gone... crap.

I do like the stalefish with a 180 or tailgrab on an OA rotation.

I've never been a fan of the R2R. Landing and rotation has always looked ugly to me.

im with you ilubronix, but i do like a poked stale to BS180. Im not a fan of most people's methods as well. Rhett Whatley has one of the only good ones I've ever seen.

Wakebrad and LakeIolaLuke, it isn't the standard poked tail grab i'm talking about. I think a normal poked tail is sick. It is when they grab it then basically have a seizure on the board and literally try and hit themselves in the back of the head with the board. I also love a nice stalefish grab, but I hate when they do it and basically get their body positioned like they are laying down.

LakeIolaLuke, Rhett's method is sick because of me. I take personal credit for all of Rhett's riding actually. Where did he learn his first h/s off 3- my boat, where did he learn his first big worm- my boat, where did he learn his first damn near every trick- my boat. Rhett is a pro because of me. Justtttttt kidding, Rhett is a pro because he has more talent in his pinky then 10 of us combined have in our bodies, but I did teach that little twirp a lot Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Parks front to fakie is one of the sickest tricks done on a wakeboard.

ilubronix, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about. There's a video off thewakeplace.com where the guy puts his entire hand on the bottom of the board, and does a bicep curl to pull the board up to his armpit. Looks absolutely foolish. I'll try to throw that vid up in a few hours... first I've gotta go take a set RIGHT NOW (YES! Very Happy )

Personally, I get a bit tired of seeing wake to wake non grabbed fast spins. Once you've seen a few hundred they kind of start to all look the same. Don't get me wrong a 7 or even 9 wake to wake is an amazing trick I'll never do, but they just get a bit boring to watch when there are no grabs or anything.

As for tail grabs, I think Adam Erringtons Tail Glides and Tail glides to frontside 180 are super sick.

TS BS spins. Yes, I do know they are extremely difficult tricks but they are always hucked. I think it's Harf that does a TS BS 5 that looks incredible, but some of the rest get really sloppy with it and butcher it.

i think anything over a 7 is too much, only exception is randall's wrapped heelside fs 9 in drive. stylish spins with some sick grabs are my favorite. like stalefish fs 3s, big poked indy ts 3s. tail grab backside spins too.

TS backspins are sick, ONLy when they are grapped, wrapped, and on axis.

least favorite tricks are raley based tricks. Some glides are ok, like chads or maybe some of rustys. but anything like 313, vulcans, s bends i dont like at all.

holdsworth, Harf's toeside bs 3's and 5s are my favorite tricks out there right now. How he throws that tail grab in just makes the trick seem so fluid and stylish like it really takes him no effort. I have tried the ts bs oa 3 and i will say, IT TAKES A LOT OF EFFORT unless you are shaggyboarder and stick the trick your first try then get the handle on the back 5 second try but he isnt human

westsidarider, hey, I give total respect to how hard some of them are. But when you are the best, you should also look the best. Now I also know that this is a personal preference thing on what kind of styles you like. I LOVE boned out tail and stalefish grabs, but not like that. There IS such a thing as too much of a good thing. When the movement is super jerky, and lacks any fluidity, I personally think that the trick looks "hucked" or, in less wake terms: sh*tty. That doesn't change the fact that it is a hard thing to do, but it would also be really hard for me to shove my head in my arse wake to wake. But I don't that would get the steeze award either. Benny G's pokes are what I strive to be, insanely poked, but look great in video OR picture OR real life. That's what I believe is true style, not some penis competition of who can stick their board farther in some direction.

intotheflats, haha Im with you. I love those 2 grabs. My two favorites to do actually. I love TS BS spins too (except 180s, not cool to me even if you grab it, unless its shifty like Randall in Drive)

I dont like those stupid "glides." Aka whenever a PRO rider does a grab now, its automatically a "glide." No. These little half-@$$ nuclear grabs and stalefish grabs where the board is 1.3 degrees from parallel to the water does not make it a glide, and it looks half-@$$ed even if its not supposed to be a glide. I also hate nuclear tantrum to blinds and most nuke ts r2bs. Rusty's in the opener of Bent Felix is sick (one handed take off). I just dont like nuclear grabs. Lastly, I think nose grabs look absolutely terrible if not accompanied with a trick. Even with a FS 180, it looks great. Nose FS 3s and nose HS Mobes are SICK but doing a w2w nosegrab even poked, tweaked, etc looks dumb to me.

TS BS OA3's are sick as hell, but everyone is doing them these days. On a related note, Danny Harf is the man.

It's not a stylish trick, but while I'm ranting, TS Roll to Revert's should be outlawed.

Oh yeah, and i like those tail grabs, especially when boosted into the flats and taken to blind at the last second. And Chris O'Shea's super poked out tail KGB off the double up is possibly one of the sickest things I've ever seen on a wakeboard.

Josh R, when danny does that grabbed toeside r2r it looks nasty, when he grabs a little past indy like nose/indy. Looks like a completely different trick.
Ralph, that tail grab is perfect. Keep doing it like that. It is when the guy tries to lay on his tail as a back rest that we are referring to.

STANG KILLA SS, dude I'm with you. If I could throw a switch 7 then maybe a poked tail grab would be lame. But after riding for just 6 months, I get stoked on a clean tail grab or stalefish - makes my session.
So when I see a pro throw them with style, it gets me inspired. I saw Lyman throw a huge tweaked stalefish this fall and it was still sweet.
