Yesterday, I was at our normal spot for boarding when this tri-hull boat, complete with tower goes by. We watched in amazement for like 15 minutes before we pulled up to him to ask about the boat. It was a 20' I/0 with a 350. He said he was using about 2100lbs. of ballast and the tower was custom made for the boat. His wake made my Mastercraft 190's look puny. I would never thought that a tri-hull boat could make wake like that. I didn't get a chance to ride behind it though.

I thought that the V-part of the hull is what made the wake. What gives? Why is his wake phatter than mine?? Is the tri-hull the secret to boarding on a budget??

There is a tri-star on our lake, too. It throws a bigger wake without any weight than my prostar throws without any weight. What gives!? Evil or Very Mad

not a tri-star, but a tri-HULL. Kinda like the one in this picture. I stole this picture from Ebay. Imagine this boat, just a little bigger, with a tower.

2100lbs wouldn't sink that boat, the motor would push it but the boat couldn't hold that much, could it??? Confused

It's not the v but more of the way the back bottom of the hull is shaped. Notice that X2 and SAN are almost completly flat.

...wakeboarder he said kidna the shape of that boat. Do you think the guy would have a 350hp i/o with 2100 pounds in that thing? Nah i bet it was much bigger and nice... he was just kinda showing you what the hull looked like.

You'll probably find the wake will be big but soft. My bayliner pumps out a big clean wake but it isn't as hard or solid as the VLX I have riden behind.
