Posted: May 12, 2010 8:10 pm Post subject: Very Strict Boat Guidelines on my Lake |
|
|
I am new to this site and am in need of help. I just moved into a community called Lake St. Louis in Missouri and I am ready to get more serious about wakeboarding. The link is below. Please review the list of approved boats and let me know which direction I should go in.
http://www.lslca.com/resources_managed.php?pageNum=16
Currently, I am presenting the community board with the info on a 2000 Sanger V210 to see if they will approve it, but I cannot find documentation that states the length of the boat 20'8" is from the bow-stern or bow-swim platform. Length requirements are 20'9". And is the hull approve by the awsa and usaws. Like I said before very strict guidelines. If they do not approve this boat I will be crushed but I need a full proof back up plan for a good wake boat. Budget around $15-20 |

| I have looked at info and it doesn't specify which 2 point the length this calculated by. Is 20'8" from the front to back of boat body or from front to back of swim platform. I am not sure why it make a big difference but it is stated that no boat shall exceed 20'9" from front to back of swim platform. I have been trying to call a Sanger dealer as well as Sanger themselves but I have not had any luck yet. Thanks for the input. |

| How big is the lake? The only reason I ask is because one of the guidelines is this: Boats with wedges or boats with water ballast tanks designed to increase wakes will not be allowed. Are they worried about larger wakes messing up the shore or docks or something? |

| Boat hulls are measured without removable swim platform. So your 20'8" is from bow to stern, no platform. |

You are screwed I read the boat regulations the size is not the problem because they give a 12 inch variance but it says in the approved boats that
" Boats with wedges or boats with water ballast tanks designed to increase wakes will not be allowed." |

Most Sangers in 2000 did not come with ballast. So get your boat inspected and load it up with lead it doesn't say anything about it. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

| not really, it says boats with ballast systems designed to increase the wake. It doesn't saying anything about water, sand bags or lead. I assume this means any means of increasing your wake are prohibited. The must be a HUGE private area and they fight for all these garbage rules, yet they probably also just run out to the middle of the lake, do a few big circles and head back in. |

| Lovin the feedback!! The Lake is 550 Acres and there are a guys I know who are riding behind runabouts loaded up with sacs. After the initial certification your goalen the water patrol never comes out except for major holidays when the lake is packed. Couple of old retired dudes. They recently have allowed 07 and newer Mastercraft x1 & Supra Lunch boats onto the lake, which are the same length as the Sanger but is the Sangers hull approved by the awsa? |

| I found out that the Sanger v210 is not approved by awsa or usaws or whatever they call themselves, which means that boat will not pass my lakes rules and I am going to break something.... On the brighter side I did find out they have included the 06-08 mastercraft X1 for approved boats. Now the X1 is out of my price range but from older posts I've read the X1 & 205V is the same hull. Is this info correct? If so They have to approve the 205V. I hear the 205V is a great wake boat. Looking at 2000 - 2002 looks like they hold there value some are pricey for there age. |

| I was waiting to hear that from someone. I have a waterfront home so you understand my situation. To easy to walk 30 steps to my dock vs. towing and launching and exiting and towing. Another problem is that St. Louis does not have many large lakes. The only other option is the river & I am not a big river lover. Too many logs floating and gar. I wish there was a better Lake b/c I would be living on it. Brichter where is Lake Shelbyville? My parents live on Lake Sara in Effingham where I ride behind my brothers 08 X30. Shelbyville rings a bell are you close to Effingham? |

I think the rules are a bit flawed. I don't know if the v210 failed their tests, or if Sanger never gave USA Waterski the boat to test. It's not like they go around testing boats, the manufacturers actually pay them to test their boats. So, I could build the best slalom boat in my garage but if I never pay them to test it it'll never be approved. A Sanger v210 should be allowed on your lake. |

| Butcher I boat on Shelbyville also it is about 30 minutes North of Effingham. I work in Effingham and live 5 minutes away and I don't boat there it's small, dirty, and they made everyone install seawalls which looks nice but the waves just bounce off and come back rolling. i've only been on that lake a couple times and it's was rough. I mostly go to Shelbyville but we also go to Vandalia which is small but you can get some smooth water. Vandalia kinda has the same thing aslake St. Louis on rules. If you want to read something that makes no sense look them up. I looked at an older Supra last year in St. Louis and the owner had a new MC and was telling me about Lake St. Louis and the river was his only choice and he goes to Lake of the Ozarks because of it. |

In that case I would get an SN 2001. Paint it neon pink and with green lettering put "LSLCA Change your stupid boat rules and I'll get a new boat" on the side. _________________ There'll be two dates on your tombstone/ And all your friends will read 'em/ But all that's gonna matter is that little dash between 'em... |

| Yes you are right about the water being rough on Lake Sara. My bro and I get up at the butt crack of daylight ride for a few hours and hit it again late afternoon. The weekdays are not bad though b/c 85% of the registered boaters are vacation home owners. The lake is primarliy a fishersman lake. I am a teacher and during the summers I will spend a week or so in the Ham and the water is calm all week till Friday afternoon. I will have to take a trip this summer up to Shelbyville it sounds great. |

| Yes!! Great Idea but I am sure they would find a way to restrict the color. I am accually thinking of joining the Lakes and Parks Committee to change some of these rules. The rules were desinged by a bunch of old ball and are extemely outdated. O LD BALLS AND LOOSE SKIN!!! |

| Living on the lake makes it hard to justify buying a boat I can't use on it. Also there are no other lake close enough to live on for my commute to work. I love people, but I hate neighbors. Living on the lake limits them |

if they've approved X-1's are they approving other v-drives in the same class? Seems like a question you need to ask whoever is in charge. X-1's are longer than 20'1" to the best of my knowledge, so you might want to come up with a list of boats within your price range and take it to them to see what they would and would not approve.
If the X-1's are getting approval obviously there is some wiggle room in their rules and all it might take is asking whoever has the final say to get the boat you want approved. |
