makar666, I'm at about the same experience level as you...been riding since May. All I can do are HS W2W w/ grabs & HS FS 180, TS W2W & TS W2W FS 180. I tried Tantrums for the first time on Sunday. After about 5 attempts I took it W2W and landed it, but lost the handle (wish I had video, but didn't realize my camera was dead until we got to the lake). People on the boat said it looked awesome. I've never riden w/ anyone who can do tantrums, so the only technique/tips I know is what I've learned from watching The Book and from these forums. I tried a few more times, but smacked the ish out of my nuts and decided to call it a day cuz it was getting late.

As for Backrolls, I tried a few about a month ago, but started working on my TS W2W instead of focusing on backrolls. I'm going to work on getting my Tantrums dialed before going back to backrolls just cuz a. Tantrums look cooler and b. the rotation and landing seem a hell of a lot easier.

Anyways, just go for it man. The falls don't hurt. After you get over the nervousness of the first attempt you'll just be pumped to stomp the trick.

BTW, the thing that got me to go for the Tantrum is in the The Book chapter about the Tantrum one of the guys said that if you have a good HS W2W and can do backflips on a tramp then you should be able to stomp the trick after 1 or 2 sets.

Yeah, unless you come up short and crush your ankles. Confused
I did that trying one off a roller last year. And a couple years back learning them I cased the wake with my face. Laughing

Obviously any trick you try can result in a bad fall whether its a just a W2W jump, or a hoochie glide, and anything in between.

Let me put it this way then...tantrum falls aren't so exceptionally bad that you should be intimidated to try the trick.

makar666, since you have the Book...watch the Tantrum chapter, but put on the 2nd audio background (audio 2/4). The guy who does that audio has some good tips that the 1st audio doesn't mention.

I'm pretty much at the same level, although i cannot get 5-6 feet high....Thats up there man Very Happy

My prob with tantrums is that i always get pulled over off axis and face plant somehow? i can't even imagine how i get to that point....all i know is that the boat is pulling me out of the trick. How do i fight this?

raptorschild, keep the handle close to you, sounds like your letting the boat extend your arm out.

I can pop around 3-4 feet off of a skiboat wake with no ballast, would your recommenrdation be to focus on a little more pop before trying a tantrum?
