Hey Guys, Ive been on the water for a couple of seasons now with my best friend, but never seriously trying to get better at wakeboarding. Last summer I skated all summer and hardly ever touched a wakeboard. this summer I decided to wakeboard more and have taken it up pretty quick. We have been going out 4 or 5 times a week for about 4 weeks now and I have tantrums dialed in, landed a couple back rolls, and landed a raley 1st try, (but not second or third or any since then = pain), what i really want to work on next is a whirlybird but I cant seem to dial in the rotation. I can do a back flip with a twist on the ground but I feel like on the water its going to pull me into a raley position when I throw the handle over my shoulder so every time I end up doing a really awkward tantrum. Any tips?? Thanks, in advance, this is my first post btw.

depending on how far you cut out, you might want to shorten your approach so you aren't flying into the wake. taking a shorter approach should make the whirlybird more wake2wake and decrease the line tension. when you trip yourself to start a whirlybird, stand tall and lay yourself out, then bring your front shoulder tightly across your face to start the rotation. try and spot then landing and ride away. i hope this helped, try getting a video or pictures to help to show us the problem
your account name is tight by the way haha

Try it on the tramp if you haven't yet. I struggled with the rotation for a while on the tramp but now can finally do it by just throwing a regular backflip and bringing my front shoulder across my face.

I still haven't attempted it on the water. Maybe late this summer or next I will.

Provolone, can you do 3's on the water? If not you really need to be able to do these comfortably first.
