MB sports made the B52's with a 2 speed i believe. 1 for gettin the rider up with, gear two for high end speed. _________________ www.AxisBoats.co.uk | www.Malibu-Boats.co.uk |

Ya, that low end torque for rippen them right out, the only concern i had was how much can you feel the transmission shifting wen ure being pulled, because too much might throw u off _________________ "Live to wakeboard, wakeboard to live" |

Its not about top end its about more torqe to pull the rider out then shifting to a normal gear to not eat gas _________________ They know what is what but they dono what is what they just strut. |

Yeah, don't necessarily think of it as "high end". Think of it as one gear for extra torque pulling the boarder out of the water, and a normal gear for once he/she is up. At least that's my understanding of it. The acceleration gear probably has a bit of ratio like 1.5:1 or 1.25:1. Then the other gear is probably more like a standard 1:1 ratio.
Hmmm..... I suppose if I was feeling ambitious I would actually go to the MB website and look it up. Oh well. _________________ How do you apologize to a friend for something like that? Flowers would not be enough. |

I have an '04 B-52 with the two speed tranny. It is the best investment on the boat. The low gear is exactly that, a granny gear to get the 2k pounds of ballast and 10 friends on plane quickly and then you shift into high, which is the same gear as a single speed. The boat doesn't go faster, it gets on plane quicker without bogging down. I use it all the time. If you slow down and want to get on back up to speed quickly you just shift down and go for it. I think any boat that carries a lot of ballast should have a two speed. You don't really notice a difference when the boat is empty and light, but load it down and you won't leave home without it. _________________ Hot Women, Phat Boats, and Sweet Rides make the world go round! |

| yeah, that is another good point about how the b-52 has sooooo much stock ballast. |

Hyperryd, what sort of selection is it? Electronic shift? Manual using the throttle? How about the gear system itself, is it meshing gears or planetary?
Cheers. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

criminally_mindedIt is controlled by the driver with a HI/LO switch on the throttle lever. It is electronic shifting that can be shifted at any RPM. Although I don't recomend shifting at really high revs as it is a jolting shift. The manufacturer says it won't hurt the tranny, I say why push it. I floor it in Lo to get on plane and then as I am letting off of the throttle for planing, I shift to High. It is very smooth, most people on the boat never even notice. I am not sure what kind of gear system it is. Annother note, the tranny also has two speeds in reverse. _________________ Hot Women, Phat Boats, and Sweet Rides make the world go round! |

Sounds excellent, definitely worth the money and would allow a lot more weight to be placed in the boat with minimal strain on the drivetrain.
Cheers. _________________ Terminate high thinking |

Perfect Pass works the same as usual. PP doesn't care what gear it is in. I just speeds up or slows down. _________________ Hot Women, Phat Boats, and Sweet Rides make the world go round! |

| oh ok, that make sense since it is in control of the engine and not the transmission... |
