| Fins don't matter. You could glue me to a sheet of plywood and I could prob still do a backroll. |

| No, I was just proving my point. The board shouldn't matter. You can either do it or you can't. |

| alright..but back roll requires a real hard edge isn't it? and edging needs fins so it won't be too slippery? I'm sorry I'm just a beginner..maybe only pros can do that with any kind of board..with or without fins hehe! |

| u don't need a really hard edge u need a progressive edge into the wake. The best way i can describe this is u gradually build ur speed w/ the hardest pull at the trough or bottom of the wake. An instructional video would explain this better...i actually think there's an instructional clips for backrolls on youtube??? |

tynnapunk, hey man, a good cut in helps, but I have found that focusing on the pop is what really does it. I can cut out 10ft and cut in and clear both wakes with one. I would focus on the pop _________________ www.blackwaterrydas.com |

tynnapunk, just ignore OuachitaWaker, a lot of times on this forum you'll find people being rude, sarcastic, and just wasting space...
Really... a person who can do a backroll could probably do it on any board. So the board doesnt matter. Just as long as you're getting enough height to pull off the rotation. _________________ Wake Forest University |

Also generally if you take off your fins it can help you to learn proper edging technique, but the fins really don't matter when it comes to doing tricks. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

| Fins don't matter - I always thought that they would help hold a better edge and help with tracking but after taking mine off my HL moitve (w/ molded side fins) I can still cut just as hard and do butter slides way easier. I think it has actually helped me get more air b/c I have to feel the edge now instead of just cutting at the wake. If you haven't mastered the progressive edge yet then you probably wont have any luck with backrolls. Stick with the basics - once you have good fundamentals then go for the backroll. I can clear the wake HS and TS, do W2W grabs both HS and TS and land HS 1's and 3's but still haven't started working on my backrolls or tantrums yet. |
