There is a great article in Wakeboarding Magazine this month. Tantrum is the featured trick.
It may be available online. Otherwise 'Tantrum' can also be searched for. You may also try searching 'Trip Flip', as that is one of the recognized names for the tricks of that type (tantrum & front roll & variations). |

I've have never tried it yet, but have heard that when edging in on you healside and riding up to the top of the wake, you quickly lean on your toes and then back on your heal to initiate the 'Trip Flip' rotation. Your not really tripping the wake, your getting tripped by the wake. _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

you don't really lean onto your toes, like completely switching edges. As you're cutting into the wake, right as you're hitting the it, you want to square your board up to the wake, so it's more parallel to the direction your travelling. this will "trip" you over backwards. Trip flips are all about timing, make sure you square up and release at the top of the wake. The Tantrum, IMO, requires more basic board control than say, a backroll, so it's a little trickier to learn, but once you hit it once, you'll pretty much never fall on it again. _________________

LakeIolaLuke, basically summed it up.
Just come into the wake with a fairly fast cut, ride all the way up the wake. I can not stress this enough, my tantrums were 2 feet above the water forever because I would throw the trip early. At the peak of the wake square up and keep your eyes open. Tantrum is a really easy trick to spot your landing, so just tilt your head backwards untill you see the water. A backflip on the trampoline also feels like a very similar rotation.
Good luck, and for a confidence booster I landed it on my second attempt |

when you're taking your cut, your board will be at an angle to the wake. right at the peak, you want to turn it parallel to the wake. your body will keep going backwards, your board will stop and you'll "trip" over backwards, which is the way to initiate the backflip. _________________

| Make sure at the top of the wake you let go with your back hand... its that that helps you "square up" |
