Been riding alot behind my boat, which in and of itself sucks, but have also been inviting more people out and they've been wanting to learn how to wakeboard. My girlfriend has tried it and can't get up, and my brother has tried it and can't get up, one of my friends can't even get bindings on without freaking out. Anyways, this is beside the point, the question I'm attempting to ask is how do you teach people not to plow the water with the board and flip over the top? Seems like everytime we start w/ both my brother and girlfriend, the board immediately goes under water and water starts pouring over the top, they let go of the handle b/c it's just too much pressure. I've tried everything from telling them to point there toes to allow water to rush under it, tried telling them to let there knees absorb the pressure from the water created by the boat, i've tried telling them to keep there arms out and relax, I've tried essentially everything I know to teach about getting up. I know they're not listening to me, because the next day both of them were complaining about their arms, legs, and shoulders being sore when they didn't even get up, lol. Is there any better advice I should be giving? I seem to remember a set of videos online somewhere full of silly instructionals like w2w and getting up. I don't know where to find them anymore b/c it's been so long since I've looked for them. Any help would be appreciated. _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |

tell them to put their arms straight and tuck their knees to their armpits....thats the easiest way ive found to teach yet... ive had a bunch of my guy friends plow the water because they fight the boat and think they have to be all hardass and pull against it..... but ive never had that prob with a girl.... ive taught 5 or 6 and the longest it took for any of them was about ten pulls.....just tell them arms straight and tuck those knees up to their armpits and that should help eliminate most of the plowing.... good luck _________________ 252 |

I just got up after two trips after work? I think I did just about everything your not suppose to do, from slalom starts, fighting the boat . What helped me 6'1" 265lbs was shorten the rope, keep my knees tight to my chest. When the boat starts to pull the board will start to plane. Then I start to point my nose toward the boat and slowly stand. The short rope really helped me. Now I use the full rope. I hope that helps. _________________ Watch this Sh**

Nah that's not the webpage, the one I'm thinking about was on either this webpage or wakeworld.com, it had alot of videos for different tricks with instruction. I do not remember where it was at or how to get there though. _________________ '05 Supra Launch 24SSV |

LoudonTN, the trick tips section on this homepage has a bunch of videos but i don't think they have any for getting up. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Normally when the board goes under the water it means they started with it slightly under the water and were kind of pushing it down with their feet. _________________ It won't be easy, but when I get there it will be one of the most satisfying journeys of my life. |

Put them on land and do it. Put a handle in their hand, make them lay on their back with their knees bent and the heelside edge on the ground. Then, pull them up with the rope while they keep their knees bent. DO NOT let them stand up. Repeat the motion about 10 times and tell them that it will feel just like this, but ONLY if they keep their knees bent.
Tell them that the LAST step is to stand up WAY after the board is on plane. _________________
