|
|
Wondering if anyone here either has the knowledge, or could provide me specs on the differences between the Hyperlite Drive and 3DS.
I'm asking since I currently have the Drive which has a gnar core shot on it's side rail down to the foam and is now delaming There's a an HL 3DS (either an 05 or 06 model I think) at a local pawn shop for well under any online price in good shape (cosmetic things that don't affect the ride like scratches). A significant enough investment for me.
If anyone has tried the 3ds and/or both that and the drive.... ~or~ if you know of the specs for the 134 drive and 136 3ds, I'd greatly appreciate! |

H20orSnowLetsGo,
I haven't ridden the drive, but when i rode the 3DS, I fell in love. It is fast, and the second you lean back to edge in, it shoots you into the wake. You also get good pop as well, and the landings were neither soft or hard. Just normal. I'd reccomend it. I love the speed from it, because with the 3ds i don't have to edge out as far as i do on my LF Balance. I plan on buying the 3ds as soon as it goes on closeout |

| I have the 3ds too and love it. It is one of those boards that is just good for everything, and it feels like its on rails when you have all the fins on it. I would definitely recommend it. |

I ride the 3ds and am making the switch to the drive. The drive pops alot more off the wake, due to the three stage rocker.

The drive has a little less rocker than the 3DS and the Drive is a subtle 3 stage vs the 3DS being an abrupt continuious rocker.
The 3DS is faster and pops a little better. It is a awesome board! _________________ In God We Trust

I'm switching to the drive because it has more pop, I think it is better than the 3ds. _________________ www.hyperlite.com |

The drive is auper fast 3 stager, due to its hard rails and straight fins. It's intended to carry speed like a continuous and pop like a 3 stage board. It's leans more to the speed/flat pop side of the spectrum, but still pops alright. _________________

LakeIolaLuke, The fins on the Drive are at a 10 degree angle and the 3DS are a at a 6 degree angle. They are both great boards. _________________ In God We Trust

| Any input on how a 10º vs. a 6º angle on the fins effects the way a person uses the board? |

The Drive is lighter this year, but I didn't notice any differance just placing them on the racks. Most boards that are "lighter" are only a few ounces. As far as the fin angle....we sale them... and don't have a clue. I can ask our rep. or if you can demo one that would be your best bet. _________________ In God We Trust

i love getting caught in lies. It's tough to remeber specs on so many boards, especially one like the drive that isn't very popular. my mistake. everything else i said is true though, it's a subtle 3 stage with a later kick than most boards, so the center has a very long flat spot, and combining that with very sharp hard rails is what helps it generate speed so well, while the accelerated kick at th tip and tail give it pop, moreso than a continuous rockered board _________________

Didn't talk to my rep. but Chad Tidwell rides for hyperlite. His thoughts are that the 6 degree angle fins on the 3DS make it a little faster vs the 10 degree on the Drive. Matt Clendenin who rides the 3DS for hyperlite felt the same.
Most of the boards we sale we hear (I like it, but it's a little this or a little that)
Everyone that has bought the 3DS or Drive have flat out loved them. _________________ In God We Trust
