cleat strength

I have built my own pylon and I am just wondering how tight I can tighten the straps that attach to the rear cleats.

Just a question, you built a pylon and it is braced by the cleats on your boat? Why the rear cleats though, the direction of strain will be towards the rear.

Yeah, if the strain is towards the rear whatever you're towing might rip the pylon right out.

i did one 1 and used 2 strap to the front cleats worked good
even pulled a tube
sucked up the tow rope in my jet pump and broke the pole at the base
but did nothing to the cleats
