tantrum trip flip????

i am just trying the tantrum and i only tried it three times. i have now seen the tantrum video part on THE BOOK but still can't grasp the concept of what is needed to trip the wake and get the rotation. i tried to get parallel with the wake but i just went straight backwqards, my nose kinda went down into the wake, and just fell on my back.

what do you mean your nose went in the wake but you landed on your back, that doesn't make sense.

it was a big miscomprehension of how to do a tantrum to get the flip i guess. my nose did like nose dive into the wake but when i hit the wake and tried to turn parallel as i tripped there was more of my nose in the wake then the rest of my board. iunno. all i know is i didn't get the height or the rotation. i believe that i tried the trick too early and didn't hit it at the troph of the wake. i think u were doing a version of what people call a frantrum which is when ppl take a cut do do a front flip but roll the flip more like a tantrum...i kno that if ur trying tantrums most likely ur not doing front flips but i'm just explaining why ur nose dug in a bit...................U need to start to turn paralell about 3 feet before the wake. U are waiting until u r hitting the wake which is too late in the cut...U need to "surf the wake" or maintain a hard edge up until about 3 feet before then mellow it out and let go with ur back arm...u'll feel the wake pop u into the air then kick ur head back and hold on for the ride good luck and tell us how it goes

michigan boarder, Ahhhh! stop now! you wanna change edges at the TOP of the wake. you need to carry you edge up the wake to maintain enough speed to go w2w, then at the peak you wanna square up your board the wake, and throw it up not back, then look straight back to get thing spinning, and spot your landings. Once you learn to throw it properly, it's super easy to land, the tantrum is probably the easiest trick to make consistent

i'lle try that too. i def. think i need to go faster and keeping my edge like you said sounds like the answer.

LakeIolaLuke, good call on ur part....my bad for the message b4...the part about 3 feet before the is when u let off ur edge a bit so that u can change ur edge at the top...if u changed edges completely when u were 3 feet away u'd be pretty screwed lol...thanks for catching my mistake i feel dumb Sad

i pretty much inderstood what you meant though. especailly with LakeIolaLuke's help. i believe my problems lied in turning parallel too much and not jumping and extending my legs when i hit the wake. i just flew backward onto my back. it was gay. thanx guys.
