My buddy blew his outdrive and he can get one for a good price. Would there be a problem if it was used in salt water and out boat is only used in fresh water?

Used in salt means corrosion, no two ways about it. What outdrive did he blow? Alot of patents have run out in the past few years, meaning you can get a new clone for a much cheaper price.

Thats one of them, you can get a non-mercruiser clone for comparatively cheap.

I don't bro, I would start googling. Mercruiser outdrive replacement, clone, etc.

I also have found this message board helpful when I had an I/O.
