| Do you keep the handle close to your hips and straighten your legs at the wake? |

LINK: Heelside Wake To Wake:
RULE NUMBER 1: You need to ride consistently.
Follow the same routine EVERY TIME.
Start out toeside just outside the wake. Edge out on your toes. Once you are far outside the wake on your toeside edge, be patient and wait for the boat to start to pull you back in heelside. At that point, bend your knees, squat down, and SLOWLY begin to build speed towards the wake. Ride a progressive edge. That means GRADUALLY build speed like you would shifting gears in a car.
IMPORTANT: Don't charge the wake at full speed... GRADUALLY build speed.
EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: Stay on edge THROUGH the wake. DO NOT flatten out. Lock out your legs at the peak of the wake. This is where the "pop" comes from and that's where your altitude comes from!
REMEMBER: As you approach the top of the wake, stand tall at the peak of the wake, lock your legs.
Wait for the pop. Pull your legs up and DONT LOOK DOWN. PICK A SPOT ON THE BANK AND LOOK THERE. If you look down you will FALL DOWN.
Once you get the pop, let your legs unlock and be ready to absorb the landing.
When you come down, land on edge and continue the heelside edge...ride it out. You need to land on edge or you will slide out every time. Don't fight it. Edge away as you land.
Now, do the exact same thing again but this time do it toeside. |

I'm pretty sure you always have to fall down after you go up
Na but HHI Dave said it all, stand tall especially---that was my biggest problem for the longest time I thought I was standing tall but my legs weren't locked so the board would just shoot up into my legs and all the pop would be absorbed. _________________ Litrecola? Do we sell litrecola? |

| OK i need some help on this. Whenever i go to do a progressive edge and try to sit low i start to slide out and be going to loose to control myself at the wake. Is this because i do not no how to properly drive my edge? I went out today and tried some short cut stand tall and i get some height but don't feel like im getting poped up. I also went for a full cut but lost the handle and made it nowhere near across the wake. Should i do some sort of more edge work or is something else wrong? |

Falling and landing aren't the same thing.
Pconn5, sounds like you just need to practice edging. |

| The thing that seems to get me more air is when I have lots of line tension it seems that I do more of a straight up pop rather than just kind of launching out without much height. |

This is a sure sign that you are starting your edge too fast. Take it slower at the start and build the edge as you approach the wake. |

Pconn5, "sliding out" is a definite sign that you are starting your edge to fast... remember PROGRESSIVE edge!... also, if you would like to improve your edging, try riding without the fins for a lil while--- it sounds like you might be too reliant on them
PS: if u do decide to ride finless, mess around and do some surface tricks, its pretty fun |
