I want to make some speakers for my shuffle just so I can take them on little adventures and just to have a little music at work. I'm looking for speakers like on those cheap MP3 speakers that are just the rubber dome with the magnet, if not, maybe I could make some...

Also, I'm looking to making that setup again but having a battery for extra power. Could I just run the battery in series somehow with the stereo wire from the 3.5mm stereo plug so the thing doesn't suck the life out of my shuff?

Here's the idea... I'm not sure of the wiring but that's the jyst of it. By all means feel free to correct me.

*Edit: The battery should be flipped.

A battery != an amplifier
The battery inline like this diagram shows will not work.

Rather than building something, why not get something like one of these? They are probably smaller and better packaged than most home built stuff.

And of course ... depending on where your little adventures take you, you might need one of these too Colorful

I didn't want to use it as an amplifier though... Just as sort of an extra power source so it doesn't suck the power out of my iPod right away.

jacoviii Thanks for the link.

QNev, so are you looking for an external battery pack, or are you looking for something to run your speakers?

Putting a battery inline with the speakers doesn't work. What you could do is use one of those amplifiers I had given links to, and just turn the volume down on your iPod (so the iPod battery runs longer), OR get an external battery pack to run your iPod and use non-amplified speakers like the CM209's I had linked to. You'd have the best luck with the battery pack that powers the shuffle.

This http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=M9759G/A works very well for first generation shuffles.

Won't work with a 2G Shuff. It's just the headphone jack that charging works with.

QNev, I am sure there's some interesting playlists for the throne room Razz.

I didn't realize that the 2G's charged through the headphone jack. I like it. Anyway, you'd probably have to do something similiar to http://www.i-hacked.com/content/view/245/90/ this.
