If you read my last post (Ding... Ouch... F**K), you probably figured out that I'd be out a boat for a while. So I thought that it would be easy enough to bum a ride from other riding buddies on the lake, but it wasn't so:
My best buddy just sold his X-Star (2001) and didn't get his new boat yet (he was relying on me this week-end!). Then my other buddy got his Nautique stolen. And finally the guy with the X-2 blew out one of the intake hoses. And then the waterskiers (yes, I was that desperate! NOT - I actually also slalom) all had guests over at their cottage.
So, as you might guess, I spent last weekend constantly staring at the lake, hoping that one of the other folks with a wakeboat would notice that mine is gone, and would stop over at my dock and offer me a ride.
Sure enough, the guy with the Tige 22Vé stopped by and took me on for a few sets.
I had never been behind a Tigé before. All I can say is WOW! In my humble opinion, this thing doesn't throw a wake, it throws a tsunami!
On the first wake jump, I litterally got thrown up into the air and wiped out. The wake was so HUGE, that it really took me by surprise! In fact, It took me at least 4 or 5 wake jumps to get used to this wake, and even so, it was only on the second set that I was comfortable enough to try any tricks. I needed to go really easy on the gas (i.e. edge) before each jump, otherwise I would get thrown way too high and way out into the flats. My knees were sore as hell after my first set.
Please bare in mind that this was my first experience behind a "larger" category boat. But the ballasts were empty. The Taps was at around 80%. I should also mention that this was my first time riding my new board (LF Shane), so that maybe had something to do with it.
Again, I'm in no position to comment, but I take it that these boats are underrated like crazy. Anyone else? |
