Alright...This is a big time Newb Question but w/e. I own a 2007 Liquid Force Trip 136 and love it. The only problem was the stock fins werent that good...soo i looked into some Aluminum Fins. I bought some Hyperlite A wing 1.1" fins. The fins fit the board BUT they didnt follow the bottom of the board much. They slightly come off the board but are very stable. The gap is small and i was gunna just try riding with them but i wasnt sure....what should i do?

I had trouble explaining the "not following bottom of the board" thing so here are some pictures...

I don't know how much stress that will put on them, but worst case scenario is that the fin rips a hole right through the board, pulling the screw with it.

If you're gonna leave them on forever maybe you can put some epoxy in that crack and sand down the excess.

The only problem I have with that is that I know for a fact the tips to those fins are real sharp. That is a gashed hand/arm/leg waiting to happen

Why not use a Dremel or a grinder of some sort to shape the fins a little bit so they fit the board better?

What was wrong with the stock fins? If they were just too big, maybe you could just grind them down some to make them smaller?

macdaddy07, Do you ever take your board off? What if you drop it and it somehow catches on your leg? What if someone is pulling it back in the boat and doesnt pay attention and someone on the back gets gashed? Unfortunately people can still get hurt by wakeboards even when they arent on the water (Sad, I know).

Rainther45, or you can be careful, because if that is happening you better watch out for hitting your head on the tower, falling off of your boat because of waves, and watch out for the edges of your board too, if you drop your wakeboard on someone its going to cut them on the edges anyways.

First there is no such board as a 136 Trip. Either 134, 138 or 142. Second, When my trip arrived, and I tried to put my cupped side fins on, The holes wouldnt even line up. When I finally shaved down the pegs, I put the pegs in the holes, and the damn tips were hitting. I got pissed and just tightened them all the way down. The Liquid Force side fins are very flimsy, if you can just straiten them out. Now there is no gaps Mr. Green

My suggestion would be to file away at the rear of the fin, were it is rounded, not pointed.

Hey, since I first read this thread I've gotten a chance to ride an '06 Trip 138 without center fins.

My answer: You don't need no stinkin' center fins. They are nothing but a crutch. Every wakeboarder worth his salt shoud be able to slaysh on just about any current board made with molded side fins...including the LF Trip.

My .02 worth.

HHI Dave is right. Ditch the center fins. I recently did just that, and it has made it much more enjoyable to ride my LF Team 143. Plus, it has forced me to push the "front" 1/3 of the board into the water more to get a good edge. Get that thing out of there and get after it!
