|
|
So I tried it today and I decided that I LOVE my new board! It is everything I expected it to be. I was riding a Cadence 131 before the Jett.
The board is a bit slower that my Cadence, but it is faster than a Premier. I really felt what it says that it takes you more up than far. It has incredible pop but it's not like it shoots you up uncontrollably in the air. It is very loose, looser than my Cadence but not as loose as the Watson. The landings were very very soft. Landing in the flats wasnt as hard as they were with my other board.
When I first got it I thought there wasn't any real difference in weight with my Cadence, but when I rode it, it definitely felt lighter.
Overall, a great board. I wouldnt recommend it for beginners though. Edging properly is harder to do with the Jett if you are a beginner. Its not going to be impossible to do, but it will be easier with a board like the Angel.
I give 2 thumbs up to the Jett!
I'll post pics soon, the board looks so pretty on them _________________ http://www.miamiskinautique.com

So glad you LOVED the Jett...and posted this review. What you said about it definitely not being a beginner board...I have started to rethink my Atla. My second season with it and I am just not progressing. I think I may have gone far beyond my capabilities...I struggle with switch riding where with my Diva I rode interchangeably. ???
I was curious as to how you liked the Jett...sounds like an aggressive and fun ride!!!

After riding it for 5 times I have to say I love it much more!
hgaugh, I think you should ride with the board that you feel most comfortable in. Maybe the Atla just wasnt the right board for you. I have to say though, about riding switch... I think that the more I've progressed regular, I've been more stuck in switch. I used to be able to do halfcab 180s with grab (but only 1 wake) i had really no trouble with edging switch. Now, even though I can do them w2w but with no grab and can do switch ts 180s 1 wake, i find it so hard to edge in switch heelside!!! But I think I just need more practice riding switch...
The Jett is a very mixed board IMO. It is very controlled for edging and since it is kinda slow, it is easy to take notice of all the things you should be doing while edging.. but once it hits the wake it pops HUGE! Once you get the hang of it, you can pop high and controlled and it has the softest landings! The few times I've cased the wake with it, It didnt feel hard at all.
My advise to you would be to ride the board you feel most comfortable in and if you feel like you're not progressing... go back to the basics, get the small things down, and then go to that trick you've been wanting to work on _________________ http://www.miamiskinautique.com

THANK YOU criswb! It really sucked to admit to myself I went too advanced...but I'd rather have fun and nail some tricks than well...struggle and hurt myself!
I think I might demo a few boards over the next week and see if it is back to a milder board or just a better fit!
Glad you love your ride...she is a beauty!!! _________________ wakeoutlaws

A little off subject...
I have been riding a Premier 141...I can switch it around at slower speeds, but not at w2w jump speeds. While I am a bit heavy...the 141 seems HEAVY...maybe too big for me. And IMO switches hard and fast.
I usually NEVER buy anything for WOMEN specifically...I almost bought the MELISSA set-up (it was offered in a 138)...but in the end got the LE Watson 138 and LE Watson bindings. Comparing the 2 boards side by side shows many differences...I really hope I can switch this thing easier. It is a NICE set-up. I also hope it gives me some magical POP...cuz I ride behind a PWC and get nothing...course I haven't mastered standing tall yet. Still working it-but I will get it. Didn't get out to test the new set-up today cuz the lake has been white capped 2 days in a row.
Opinions on my new setup? |

Just thought id add my 2 cents...
i tryed the 136 witness (same mould as the Jett) and i loved every minute i was on the board! IMO i found that it was faster than the cadence 134 and alot lighter. cant wait for the 08 model and wing boots! supa cumfy! bring on 08.

I love the WATSON setup. My switch is ZERO issue now. That board rides loose if you aren't carving. Doesn't catch edges quickly. Allows me time to get back on edge after a 180. But is can be slick. Saved me 2 lbs over my Premier setup (bathroom scale). My foot doesn't slip forward on w2w jumps in the Watson boots either-that drives me nuts.
Because I get bored with things and have a spending addiction. I just ordered a Hyperlite SYN 137. Tossed in some LE Shane CT Bindings. PERFSKI was having a sale. This will be my first ladies board. It will be tough to beat out the Watson, but am looking forward to testing it.
There isn't too much more I can pull behind this PWC...just work on my switch...and dial in what I have. |

I just realized something...the JETT and the WATSON look very similar. Damn, should have picked up that JETT instead of the SYN.
Oh well. |

I'm thinking about getting the jet or angel for my daughter - she's 12 118 - and clearing the wake just about everytime on a diva 128 - I think a higher end board would give her a lot more pop - but she's 12 so looks really matter - must be girly!
I ride the LF team 134 - awesome board - huge pop and nice control - I'm landing in the flats everytime - that feels great for an old woman...... |

My daughter has just now cleared the wake too. She is 13 and weighs a bit more. She's riding an Obrien Oasis 137 with Byerly Bindings. If I can't do anything on that SYN board-I'll hand it off to her. She complains about getting hand me downs-does she really understand how much this stuff costs? But I was so proud! Her snowboarding isn't even as good as her wakeboarding. I am excited for the winter, because I believe she will step it up on the mountain due to her progression on the water.
She went from being scared beginning of the season to clearing the wake. I am totally blown away! I watch her and it's like looking at myself.
I still don't land in the flats...I land on the "downside" I guess. Need to work on my pop more. |

HHI Dave, When I first read this thread I thought that girl in the picture was your girlfriend, and I said, gees she looks familiar. Also, is she new, because she sure looks different from your real girlfriend. |

I just bought the Jett 136 for my daughter and I to share - it a little big for her - but should make for cushy landings - a steal at evogear with bindings to match for 325 shipped - I like the blue graphics better anyway - can't wait to give it to her so I can ride it.......... |

The JETT and the WITNESS are pretty much the same boards...the WATSON is a little different. |

Hey I just got the new 132 Jet and CT wing boots and I love the setup! It rides great, just can't get a good pop! I did have a 130 Hyperlite Eden and I got more pop out of it than I am with the Jett, Whats the deal?
I just started to wakeboard late May and I am already trying to clear the wake. I was closer to clearing the wake with my Hyoerlite than with my Jett. Any tips? |
