OK, I know that not everyone on this site rides behind a brand new X-Star. So, let's see what the rest of you guys are pullin with. Don't be shy - it's nothing to be embarassed about! I'll start. Mine's a 1988 Century I/O with an unhealthy MerCruiser V8. It stalls almost every time you try to put it in reverse, the alternator belt snaps at least twice a season, the paint's oxidized, the teak is crap, there are numerous holes in the vinal, the two rear jump seats are MIA, the tach doesn't work and it goes through fuel filters on a monthly basis. Other than that, she's tip-top! She throws a decent wake, holds at riding speed well and seats 6 or 7 of my fiance's hottest friends comfortably. AND, she's paid for! Hell, I'm just glad to have a boat! Here she is.......enjoy!

YAY! a topic i can really post in!! i wouldnt call mine a pos I would call it a boat that i love. and its 20x cheaper than the new ones ive seen on this site. Shes a 455 with a berkley jett with jetovator, she still runs strong, great compression and is mechanicly sound. it does the job nicley and at the cost id rather have it then the fancy boats. Gas kinda sucks but its not pathetic like some imagine. I race other boats on the water every night at 7 so thats fun, i love waterposrts but this does the job just fine. i also love old boats as i do all cars. and good looking boat by the way buddy!
ps No boat is a POS there all great boats in a way exept 88-89 bayliners caprises (sp) cos there super ugly!
but i love my boat and hope to have many adventures throuout the years. it only seats 5 but u can sqush 6 in, tones of leg room.
Ty,

Awesome wonderfully put!!! I wish I could shake your hand! I wish I had a picture of my 86 Rinker. I will get one for you though. I just put a tower on it this past winter, I made some light bars and tower speakers for it. It has a fat sac and a kicking sound system..
Best of all its PAID for, like yours.
I will get a pic this weekend!!!

See, I knew it. You can still be a great wakeboarder and not own a $40k boat! Thanks for your contributions guys! Maybe we should post some pix of people pulling sick tricks behind their "average boats".
I think it's always cool to see a young person who's motivated enough to work for their own boat to ride behind. No disrespect to those of you who ride behind someone else's though - but if you love the sport, and nobody that you know has one, you've gotta do what you've gotta do to get out on the water.
Props to all the "average boat" owners!!!!

BTW Brad,
I'd totally like to see a pic of your boat. Sounds like you've put alot of work into it. Mine was such a piece of crap when I got it. I spent months fine-tuning the engine (still stalls sometimes though), I added the Monkeybar, lights, a home-made board rack that I built for $35, a modest CD player, eq, lanzar amp, 6X9's, 6 1/2's and an 8" kicker substation. I rewired the electrical system, tried to remove the oxidation from the paint, cleaned the hell out of the interior, added a depth finder, new prop, new bilge pump and did some minor work on the trailer. It's all been worth it too, because we use it almost every weekend. And people have been pitching in enough gas money so that I usually have enough left over for beer and lunch at the marina. Life is good!

I WILL get a pic for for you this weekend and if this post dies i will pm you.
I added
-tower with racks
-lights
-speakers
-fat sac
-mp3 player
-6 6x9's
-2 51/4;s
-2 61/2 on the tower
-12" sub
Mine was rough when i got it but i took it to my dads marine mech and told him, "the last thing i want is to go out out w/ a boat load and have something go wrong" $1500 in maintenance later it has not given me a prob. I rewired the trailer this past winter and did some vinyl work. I had my clean up dept (I work as a sales rep at a car dealership) buff and do all the fiberglass work to remove the oxidation. I guess thats a perk .
Its not a Malibu, Its MINE.
Same as you I use it 2 a week and on weekends every weekend and the crew pays for fuel.
Im 24 I have a nice boat and its paid for!! I could go out and sign my name on a finance contract for $60K. But I want to be able to go out for a beer with my friends when I want to.
I will get a pic soon

Brad, I have a 1996 crownline. I was wondering where you put your six 6'9's? I have four in mine currently and have been considering adding another one but cannot decide where I want to put it. Post some pics if you can.

Here's my old boat. 1976 Glastron, had to use tons of starting fluid and had no reverse the two seasons I had her. It was total P.O.S. but it got me into boarding and was a lots of fun.

Yeah, I know there's gotta be more people like us on here, but they're probably too embarassed to post (they don't want to ruin their false online reputations)
I wonder how many people on this site claim to have boats that they could never afford. Come to think of it, I wonder how many people on this site don't even ride at all?

Here is our boat. We've been having some engine trouble the past couple summers (stalling and hesitation), but we feel that we finally have that fixed (knock-on-wood). I don't consider it a total p.o.s...I mean it floats, it runs, it's all good. Sure the trailer needs repainted, and with only a 150hp outboard it can't plane with too much weight, so it will always have only a mere mediocre wake, but like I said...it floats, it runs, it's all good.
I did recently get a Monkey Bar for it and I'm hoping to get some ballast and play with the trim to get as much wake out of it as possible. I'll also be hooking up a sound system. And, I think we are going to try and get a SS 4-5 blade prop with a better pitch to help with the hole shot. I'm just happy to have a boat and live on a lake.
Ps: I was lucky enough to have recently met some really great people who have a Tige 22i and are a blast to ride with. Thanks guys for the pulls!

I don't have any pictures, but the first boat I skied behind (before boarding) was a 16' 1970 Blue Marlin (I think) tri-hull with a 45 HP Sears outboard. My dad upgraded it to a 65 Merc, then it really moved. It forced us to learn beach/dock starts.

THREAD SEEN AND POST MADE!... HAHAHA all of the above boats look like brand new 60k wake boats compared to our boating list you dont know how lucky you are! first off let me warm you up with a pic of my first boat its a 14ft swiftcraft stilleto complete with rusted trailer and ankle high wake fantastic! it's just not wide enough to sit a board in sideways and the skipole got ripped out! but that is just the starters.. for the mains we have the all new 12ft tin dish fully pimped out with custom 2 piece scaffold tower luxurious lifevest seats and cork plug hole! to power the beast we have a 15hp tohatsu powerhouse and this phat baby can throw a wake of at least little toe height so next time you go wakeboarding just think to yourself.... Damn im one lucky person!

Ok, great thread
My pile 'o stuff:
A 13 feet short Fletcher Bravo Arrowsprint with a 40HP Mercury outboard. The engine needs new gearcaseoil and sparkplugs, when it's cold it runs on only 3 cylinders instead of 4.
With one person in it, it has a digital measured topspeed of 62kmph or 39mph.
Last season the seats were completely ruined, but I could fix two good seats from the 4 broken ones.
Oh yeah, i haven't got a skipole on it, so other stuff than 180's/360's are almost impossible with this boat.

Hows this one? 1969 Sea Ray 16' closed bow. Paid $350. I pretty much completely rebuilt it. The list of what is replaced is too long, so I'll list what I didn't touch. Stringers, hull, transom, and gas tank. Still a POS, but doesn't look it quite so much anymore.

This is the boat we learned on and had a great time on for the past 3 years.
It throws a wopper of an ankle high wake, and that's with 1 250lb fat sack in it. If we put more weight in it, the boat has a hard time plaining out.
I just bought a Mobius LSV this year, but haven't had a chance to ride behind it yet.
Our little 17' Sun Ray has been great for a long time and when we added the tower we thought it was the best boat for us.

J DOGG-
Unless your boat's hull is stuffed full of dogsh*t, I don't think it belongs in the thread man. Sorry to break the news to you, but in case you didn't know - Air Natiques aren't P.O.S. boats!
