| Is it just me or does everything on this boat look cheap and/or outdated? I mean, the damn thing looks like a 17 foot bayliner. Maybe I could understand if it was like $25k or something....

No, the Barney boat?
I know the racks can be lowered, but it's the principle of the thing. You take a crappy looking boat to a boat show, advertise it for a rediculous price, and you don't have enough sense to put the racks at a reasonable height.
This thing was probably built by a bunch of guys that have never even ridden or understand the sport.
At the end of the day, the thing's just fugly.

| It's funny that, just because a boat is a "wakeboard boat" companies think that its ok to charge an insane sticker price for their boats.

So wakeboarding is a snob sport all about fashion and who can afford the most expensive gear?
I must have missed that meeting and didn't get to read the memo.

Who, exactly, are you responding to? The ebay auction? Everyone seems to think that boat isn't worth anywhere close to that price.

I'm sorry, the looks nothing like a 54 thousand dollar boat. Plain jane, uninspired, with an horrid color.

To answer your question: Who on earth would buy this? The guy that went to the TomCat dealer but they were sold out. I think they are running a horserace for the ugliest boat competition.

| my point is that this boat is outrageously expensive and ugly for what you get. I'm just shocked at the price is all. I was curious as to whether this seemed out of line to anyone else.

I was suprised that I went to the OKanangan last summer and saw at least 4 Gekko's. Personally I would never buy one, look terrible, i cant say much performance wise but I highly doubt it would out do any wakeboard boat. And the worst part is there is like 5 dealers, if you ever had a problem.....you would be lost.

Just a question how much did you pay for your Mailibu? All ski boats are overpriced, get over it. Just because you don't like this boat, doesn't mean everyone else has to hate (not saying I do). It's obviously a show boat as well, I doubt you have to get it in that awesome green color, if you don't want to.

| If I won it, I'd own it with pride... but paying 54k for that? Too many better looking paint jobs on other boats if one has that much to spend

| That's my point. There's a price at which this boat becomes worth buying I'm sure, but it's not 54k. That's more than I paid for my boat....

02lightning, you paid less than 54K for your boat?! That's awesome!! I figured that thing was around $60K.
As for the Gekko, I guess I don't hate it as much as everyone else here, but I'm not seeing $54K either. And if I had that much to spend on a new boat, I doubt it would be a Gekko...

After working on gekkos, and specifically the Revo 6.2, this boat is amazing. It is meant for the big boys. It looks and responds different than any other wakeboard specific boat and that is part of its appeal. Most people want a wakeboard style boat, cause they are hip and trendy. Some people want something else.. this would be the something else.

You say most people want a wakeboard style boat because they are hip and trendy...do you mean everyone in the market for a boat?! How is this boat something else?

We went to this marina near my house once and my dad asked to look at some "wakeboard boats".. The sales guy, who looked about 20, led us past a full showroom of Bu's with towers, the Wake specific ones, far across this huge lot of fishing boats, to this tiny little red Gekko with a pylon and not even any seats, except for the driver's one. He started to explain why the boat was "wake specific".. Me and my dad left
