So for many of us, the riding season is starting to hit full swing, so we're gonna get hurt. What's happened to you so far?
to date, I'm suffering from some bone bruising on my right leg, torn somach muscle, strained right pectoral, and tendonitis in both knees and left elbow. And I know it's only getting worse from here, cause I'm really pushing myself this summer. _________________

LakeIolaLuke, Yeah, I just got out of my sling on Monday, had surgery 5 weeks ago. They're confident that I'll be back to 100% after PT, but it's a definite bummer for this season. Luckily, two months after I'm done I move to Fl |

| A friend that went with us wrecked and one foot came out and the board hit him in the head leaving a big gash in his head, and was bleeding all over the place, and he tore his ear drum as well. Had to get 4 staples in his head. |

| Se7en, Know exactly how you feel man, I dislocated my shoulder playing football about a year ago, tore the labrum and stretched the rotator cuff. They actually had to cut a section out of the rotator cuff to get it back to the right size then put 5 what they called anchors in to put everything back together, and they go into the bone to keep it in place. Very unconfortable and painful recovery after surgery, and after that lots of physical therapy. It still bothers me a little bit every once in a while, but other than that its perfectly fine now like nothing ever happened. |

So far, just the usual aches, pains, bruising, and soreness. Hopefully, that will be the extent of it.
I did tweak my lower back putting the boat back into the garage yesterday though.

Still recovering from a broken foot but out riding and damn is it sore! Previously I have had a ruptured disk, broken ankle, three ruptured ear drums, cracked rib, countless pulled muscles, & various other more minor bruises and scrapes. _________________ My therapist says it is all your fault. |

I haven't gotten out (yet) this season, mainly just not the chance yet. The "worst" wakeboarding injury I ever had was a sprained hand -- It was the first time for me two summers ago, and the driver knew about as much of pulling a wakeboarder as I did -- about zilch. He was used to doing a fast pop a water skiier out of the water type of start. Because holding on the handle at a faster speed was hard, I had the rope and corner of the handle wrapped around my hand. I was getting up, but the whole hand and wrist were swollen that he was wondering if I had broke it at first (x-ray's confirmed I was okay). Last winter season was snowboarding down a mogul run and broke my arm. Now the plating and screws in my arm sets up metal detectors at the airport. Makes life fun and interesting.
Fortunately I do not have much to write about for wakeboarding injuries, but snowboarding is a different story. In 2001 I had a bad landing on hard pack (25+ feet in the air witnesses said) and managed to break 4 vertebrae in the back, a couple of ribs and shattered the breastbone into many pieces. That one landed me in the hospital for nearly a month |

I thought I broke my ankle Thursday. Landed on my butt, but somehow caught my toeside while sliding belly up across the water... best I can remember anyway. Basically all my body weight was flipped over the front with my ankles being the fulcrum. I took x-rays Friday and although the doctor's first thought was a break, they turned up negative.
I'm guessing 1-2 weeks.
Any good tips on ankle braces, wraps, or is taping the best way to go?
Oh, I thought I was going to ride it back in after the fall while just staying out of the air, but I had a brutal mis-step on a simple surface 180 which ended with a nice faceplant. I wish I would've gotten that one on tape. |

durrrr.....my turn...
Riding injuries:
Torn ACL, MCL, medial and lateral meniscus in my left knee
Torn MCL in my right knee
Torn tendon in my elbow (forgot the name)
Injuries from other places:
Compression fracture in my neck, repaired by fusing vertebrae (biking, 2004)
broken left index and middle finger, knuckles healed weird so I can't make a fist (building rails while intoxicated)
Dislocated right wrist, severed a bunch of nerves and now it's permanently numb...(my car's handbrake doesn't work so I have to put blocks under the wheels if I park on a hill...My friend was driving and let the car slide back while I was taking my block out...) |

My ankle still sucks. Planning on heading to the beach this weekend. Diving looks to be out due to sea conditions and I'm unsure whether or not to get on the wakeboard. If it's not better by next week, I'm going in for more X-rays.
I did make the mistake of thinking it was much better than it was last Tuesday and went jogging for 2 miles... this was 4-5 days after the injury. My ankle hasn't felt "good" since.
Spearfishing tournament in 3 weeks and I'm starting to get a little worried. |
