Would you support a bill that would raise cigs by $2 a pack? What about a dollar more a pack. What if the money was going to be used striclty for public education or would go to a centralized health care system. Not that this is planned, but I was just wondering on your thoughts. Being a non-smoker I would support such a tax. I think it's an "optional" tax. You could smoke and pay or not smoke and not pay. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. | what's the point of an optional tax? No one would pay it. I would support a bill that would pay for education. |

As a smoker, I would still support the bill. Then maybe I would finally realize how much $$ I really spend on killing myself. _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

umm... Zach, it would be optional because you could not smoke and then not pay it. Smokers would be paying it from the price of the pack increaseing. I'm just throwing out some idea's here. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. Get your $*** together Billy, cause the night ain't over!"

Until everyone has health care you aren't paying for mine. If you would like to I could start deducting the cost from your paycheck instead of mine. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. | I know that B-Rad but we're all paying for healthcare for those who can't afford it. If you end up smoking or boozing your life away (and I'm just using you as an example) and have no money for retirement or healthcare then who ends up with the bill? |

totally, i support it all the way. i don't smoke and right now the schools in cali are taking a hard hit so it would help quite a bit. Also maybe some people would quit because of the price they would have to pay for a pack. _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |

That'd be classic if a tax on cigarettes went towards health care. I'd probably write a song about it.
And don't say cigarettes smell bad. Wait until you've been around them 24-7. |

I would definetly support it. This way, it would discourage people from smoking and they would have to pay the price for what they're doing. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

If you make the price too high people will smuggle it.
I'm against alcohol tax. It can be consumed in a way that isn't bad for you, but cigarettes can not.

What about making cigarettes around $7.50 a pack. That way you would have to decide if you wanted to smoke or drink some nights. I also think it would make a lot of the younger kids that think smoking is cool rethink the cost factor associated with it. People would also be hesitant to give them away to anyone, being the price is so high.
I see the smuggling aspect, Mexican cigs taste a lot different though. I smoked a few in Cancun in 98 and they were horrid. A lower class of cig, if there is such a thing. _________________ "What do you mean you're done for the night...Insomnia doesn't even open until 4. | I use to work at a golf course during the summer last year. Here in Florida the avg. price for a name brand cig is around $3. At the golf course they were 6.50 a pack and a beer 12oz can, was 4.00 . And people still bought them. The point is they could make cigs $10 a pack and these stupid donkeys would still by them |
