It took me a couple of trips to get it down, but I taught myself completely. A friend of mine got up a few tries after that.

After learning the "correct," taught way, it usually only takes a time or two at most when teaching someone. Another friend of mine is 6'4" 220lbs and got up first try this weekend.

I wakeboarded a few times about 5 years ago and it took me about 10 tries to get up when the driver told me to stick my board vertical like water ski's, but when I started again here at college and saw how to do it the right way I got up first try.

Maybe 15 - 20 tries for me, and self-taught like a lot of others. The good side of that is that I'm able to help others get up pretty easy since I'm familiar with pretty much ALL the ways to fail now! Laughing

I didn't measure my first success in getting up in trys, but rather days! Shocked I eavesdropped on my son's wake board coach teaching someone how to get up and ever since then I haven't had any problems getting up. Now I need to work on STAYING up.

5 or 6 on a plastic board with sandle bindings.

However, I got up my first try on a wakeskate, i think you just get a feel for things, because i learned to waterski after i learned to wakeboard, and i got up first try then, kicked one off after five minutes.
