Hey guys,
Im new here and have absolutely no knowledge of wakeboarding. I'd really like to get involved but I'd like to know what the cost of this new hobby would be and what kinda boats I should look at for at least a decent wake. Now, I have a friend who's crazy about seadoo products and he says I should get something from them because of cost and possibly usability and wake. Now, he says the GTX 4-TEC Jetski, the Sportster 4-TEC and the Challenger X are all something I should look into. If you have any input or have ridden any of the above please tell me your opinions because I'm clueless. Of course, in my case $$$ is a problem.
Thanks |

| If you want to wakeboard and get some air u will have to hit other boats rollers if you have a sea-doo. |

| I have the Challenger X and it is a great boat. I have 1500lbs in ballast and the wake is great. Dont get me wrong its not an inboard comp boat wake but it works just fine. If I had it to do over I might consider a Moomba Outback, but I think the Challenger X is a much more versitile boat. It goes fat enough to barefot and I have always wanted to try. It will kill a tuber, it is good for wakeboarding great for slalom, and handles like a ferrari. |

#1 Don't listen to your friend.

I quess you know what the challanger X costs.?.? If you don't mind used I would suggest a 95 or up Super Sport Nautique. If getting something new is a deal with you than I would suggest that you look at something like the Moomba. |

Guys all this junk about riding behind a jetski is right but were those jetskis almost 20 feet? This boat has a sweet wake a nice tower and it is not very expensive.
30k CANADIAN! which translates to 20k american. Can you find a brand new boat that is great for wakeboarding for 20k american?
thats what i thought.
for those who don't have 35k to blow get this boat its worth it |

you're still wrong. you can find a gently used nautique or other great boarding boat for 20k. sure it's nice to have a brand new boat, but if u buy used and let the first owner take the hit on depreciation, you're in a good situation with a good boat. |

Buy a used boat as everyone else is saying. Waverunners are fun for about 20 minutes, and then the rest of the wakeboarders will make fun of you behind your back for the remaining time you own it. _________________ Check out https://www.facebook.com/darcizzleoffshore |

I got the sportster 4-Tec about 3 weeks ago. Its a nice boat, great handling except at low speeds like all jet boats, and it flies up to about 55. Seadoo make great quality boats but this is not a wakeboarding boat. The wake is good enough to do minor jumps and tricks but nothing amazing.... there isnt room to store a wakeboard unless you get a tower or something i had to make this thing on the back loading platform to hold mine. It's a cool boat, fun to drive and it has a decent stereo. It does have a small raised pylon to help a little. It is good enough for me since i just started wakeboarding this summer but to all the wakeboard enthusiasts they would not enjoy the wake. But if your looking for a fun ride with minimal wakeboarding its a good about. We got ours with trailer at about 13,500. _________________ www.krookedminds.com

Anything with a Yamaha or a SeaDoo sticker on it is a jet ski no matter how long it is. _________________ Calabria Boats Rule! |

So your saying the 22' seadoo islandia deck boat is a jet ski? just because it has a jet engine. Its over twice the length of a jet ski and is a deck boat...but whatever you think. _________________ www.krookedminds.com

It would be great for sliders if that is what you do, or messing up the water for everyone else. _________________ Calabria Boats Rule! |

| I got my brand new Moomba Outback for 20K, I briefly looked at the sea doo challenger, but down here at the dealer I was looking at they wanted over 25K for it. Now my Moomba doesnt have internal ballast or a tower but I figure I can add em. I think the SeaDoo boat has a lot of cool features (I like the seats and the no-care floor) but the V-8 of the Moomba won out for me. Whatever you get have fun w/ it! |

| Buy a used tournament boat!!! You are going to take an incredible hit on depreciation on a Sea Doo merely because it has that name. The fact that it is in fact a real boat makes absolutely no difference. When talking about boat values & how they hold them it's all about perception, & the name Sea Doo immediately makes you think of a jet ski. It will be very difficult to sell that boat down the road because you will be caught in-between markets & when you go to trade it in dealers will know that. Don't think that this will be the last boat that you ever purchase, either. When it comes to boats you will always want one that's faster, bigger, has a better wake, etc. etc. The fact that it is a jet boat puts 2 strikes against it right out of the gate (I don't know of any boarders or skiers that don't absolutely hate being pulled by a jet-powered boat - it has to do with the quality of the wake, not the size. If it made for a good wake, the tournament boat companies would have at least one model that was a jet, no?). You would even be better off to buy an absolute bottom of the line new tournament boat than to buy that Sea Doo. Even better though, I recently purchased a "gently used" MB Sports Boss 190 with the GT-40 EFI engine, heater, shower, extended pylon with less than 300 hours on it for under $20k. We looked at the Sea Doos & the Yamahas but after seeing what can be had used, we decided that it's a bad road to go down if what you really want in the first place is a wakeboarding or ski boat. |
