| It's probably due to the prop's pitch.

It's probably because your arms are too small and weak to push the throttle all the way forward. Try hitting the gym and test drive it again in a month.

freemotionswinger, as others have said it could be the prop pitch of the boat.
As far as the governor goes, no such thing exists in boats related to speed, only maximum engine RPM speed. Was it running around 5200 RPM?

freemotionswinger, Wake boats arent speed boats. Most don't go faster than that...They are more or less low-end power boats than speed boats. Why would you want to go faster than 35 anyways?

Skate252, well, it doesn't even matter what the boat was ment for first off. cause it's semi v just like an x star
and 2nd read up and he says "is it because of the saltwater" or something to that extent..im just saying i wakeboard in saltwater all the time in fishing and wakeboarding boat and they both go 47/more

Are you buying it to wakeboard behind or speed around the lake on? 35 on water is still pretty fast! Could be speedometer needs to be calibrated.

Ok... is it a new boat with standard prop it should probably go faster than that...
If it has a custom prop fitted for wakeboarding it sounds like it could be right...
I don't think the saltwater will damage it... unless it's been in saltwater for years and years without maintenance... My boat is in saltwater and no problems with that...
If it does like 5000 rpm it's probably a govern kicking in... change to a higher pitch prop to go faster but you'll loose acceleration and it won't work as well for wakeboarding...
If it's not a new boat... have u checked the prop for damage and the hull for both damage and growth...? =)
And finally don't even begin to look at a log-speedometer, get a gps to find out your speed... My log shows like 10 mph when I go like 60 mph according to gps, just because it looses pressure when the boat lies higher in the water...
Anyhow.. good luck!
Mike

Hi,
have driven many x stars with the wakeboard prop on them it seems to be around 35 to 39 mph is about full throttle. I would assume it only has the mcx engine in it, slightly under powered for a big boat.

Oh yeah? How many wakeboard boats have you driven?
There is a maximum RPM that the engine manufacturer programs into the ECU. This has nothing to do with speed in MPH, only the speed of the motor.

Sorry, I thought this was the perfect thread to be dicking around in. I guess it's not, so I'll stop.
