I'm just starting up wakeboarding and I can throw surface 360's pretty consistently, you just have to be conscious of your edge. When you go for the handle pass make sure you've got your heels up out of the water otherwise you'll catch an edge and take a nasty spill.
Does anybody want to check me on that, cause I'm definitely no expert here... |

FLWake, you are correct that you need to be conscious to keep whatever is the leading edge angled up out of the water. i.e. as your toeside edge is facing forwards lift your toes up and as your heelside edge is facing in the direction of travel lift your heels. I find it easiest to think about always leaning away from the boat slightly (not too much though) and this should always keep the board at the right angle.
Also keep the handle close to your body as this will make the handle pass a lot easier.
Maybe I am different but I prefered to learn the wake 360 before the surface 360. (This is probably due to some very nasty faceplants when learning surface 180's with 2 inch fins!!) - I am well aware that I am about to get a million responses saying that the falls when learning wake 360's can be quite nasty as well but I HATE faceplants!!!! and found the falls from learning 360's were more of a full body impact than just smashing in my face which is what happens everytime I catch an edge.
I hope this excessive rant all makes sense, if not please let me know. |

When first learning surface 360's and/or the cuffed position you should have the driver slow the boat to around 15 mph. That way, when you catch an edge it hurts much less. |

| It depends on the board you are on aswell. I did a surface 360 on a wakeskate the second time I rode one. The wake skate is pretty much completely flat on the bottom. I was trying for a while to just do a 180 on my wakeboard with my 2 inch fins on. Not a good idea. After taking them off I can do a 180 but havnt gotten the 360 yet on the wakeboard. |

To help on a surface 360, you can cut out as far as you can on your toeside and look at the shore..
This will help square your shoulders up to the back of the boat, and make initiating the spin much easier. |
