So far, I have tried the Ronix Coven and Frontier. I am taking the Watson out this weekend. I have rode the Watson before, but a 138. My knees have decided that a bigger board might be a good idea, so I am bumping up to the 142 (or whatever size it is).
Opinion so far:
Frontier - Great pop out of this board. The landings were soft. I thought the board was a little on the sluggish side. Good board, but not for me
Coven - Great board. Fast through the water and really great pop. I was surprised at the pop, as this is a continous board. Held its edge really well.
Anything else out that I should look at? I would like to stay away from the 3 stage types (Ronix 1). Also, I just got rid of my Shane. Didn't like it / could never get comfortable on it. Has anyone rode the new TRIP? _________________ Work SUX! |

See if you can demo an O'Brien Natural. It is fast, has great pop, and the most amazing blend of a stable ride and yet the ability to break loose whenever you want.
I'd also recommend the 3ds. A few friends of mine just started riding it and love it. Supposedly you have to put the .7 fins on to make it ride more loose though. |

| I've got a Frontier. I thought it tracked very well and had a lot of pop. Plus, it wasn't too locked in. The only thing I noticed is that the landings were harder than they are on my Shane. I've gotten spoiled by riding a Fish/Shane with the double concave hulls. Those boards just land so soft in the flats, and becaues I tore all of the cartilege in my right knee (along with my ACL) last season, I've got to go as soft as I can these days... |
