How are you going to keep that from moving? I have a 17fter that we are going to make stands to hold it and/or use poles and put 4 of them to hold it.

we are going to put 4 eye hooks on each corner and throw sinder (sp?) blocks off each corner..should work...if not then we are just going to burry it into the ground because it isnt to deep

snobo4rder08, My advice would be to use treated plywood. Untreated will not last very long.

You have a really good start and it is overbuilt. I would spend the extra money and get sheets of pvc or composite decking material. That box looks like it"s built right and begs for the slippery surface that it and you need.

What the hell is with all of your gay and random pictures that you keep posting. You are making yourself look like a retard. If you want serious answers to your own posts, firstly show a little maturity... and secondly dont hijack threads using dumb pictures....

Whoa dude, widen out the stance on that omega setup. It'll take a set or two to get used to it, but you'll thank me later

Wow. I like it. Based on your design can you add some elevation to it later if you want more air?

Looks really nice. Have you considered using sheeting rather than the PVC pipes to cover it?

OK, since I have been down the slider road a few times already..

I like your energy and you have something good to work with there but...

You might want to work on lifting it out of the water a bit more with bigger floats or raising the rail off the deck you built.
Once you hit it your weight will set the rail into the water at the ends more so than in the middle and you will most likely catch some edges on the water with how low your slider is. Of course depending on what type of slides you use it for.

Concrete blocks wont hold it in place for similar reasons above.. once you hit the rail one side is going to load and lift... this pulls the blocks up from the bottom and drops them straight back down. By the time you do 3 passes your blocks will be doing nothing but keeping the rail from floating away and wont even keep it lined up any more. You need to set (SET, NOT DROP) an anchor on each end.

Saying your neighbors being OK with it is very vague and subjective - It's all cool your neighbors wakeboard so they are good with it but when you are on a lake EVERYONE on the lake is your neighbor. Will the old guy who reads his Sunday paper on his floating dock across the lake going to be OK with it?

Like I said I have been down the slider road a few times and what works for us and our lake will not be the same for all, I'm just tossing out advice...
I have a 30 foot RAVE slider that I pull in and out each time we use it, setting it with an anchor at each end out in the middle of the lake. Guess what, not everyone is down with it and I had to get approval by the state and guess what some people are still not down with it.

Following up on J-Dogg and anchoring. Instead of setting an anchor, another option is to put a shock cord on the anchor line by taking 30 to 36 inches of anchor line and attaching an 24inch rubber bungee type truckers cord to the ends of the 30 inch section. This will create 6 inches of slack in your anchor line, but produce more or less constant tension between your rail and anchor as the lifts go up and down. That way your anchor will not lift and fall when hitting it. You will also have to have a system to handle variations in lake depth if you are going to keep it out there any length of time. You will probably need more anchor weight than you realize if you do not set the anchor.

I put a rail on my lake and eventually someone complained and in it came. I will now give away my rail to anyone willing to pick it up - floats not included. Mine wasn't as big or as nice as yours, but I used the same basic PV set up as yours and you should be golden there.

Looks like a nice rail!

Seems like the PVC could catch even molded fins and throw you off on spins, too. Other than that and what was already mentioned, it looks like it could be fun. Make sure to video the first few runs..

Man, I can't believe so many people are bitchy about sliders. I built and set a permanent 45 foot a-frame in my lake, not one complaint. The nieghbors even let us put it halfway on their land, so we could use the ATV to pull.

(sorry so small, cell phone cam pic)

On a 50 foot lot like ours, the slider would be bigger then our lot, and people would get really pissy. They get mad for me running the fourwheeler up and down the gravel road behind the houses, how do you think they would react to building a slider and making pass after pass on it? But I'd probably just do like I always do, Say F*** em'.

To the guy with the rave slider:

I too have a rave slider and legally it is nothing different than a rave floating trampoline or someone lounging on a tube in the lake.....there is NOTHING to complain about.

I think on the technical side of things it falls into the category of anchoring a boat for the day, as long as it isnt staying there overnight its ok and nobody can say a thing about it. Other boaters are required to stay away from it just as usual......the only loophole is how close you are coming to it.

Hey snoboarder, Im ready to try your rail......but I really would suggest trex or pvc sheeting for that thing.

inter, I don't pull it in and out of the lake... I should have phrased that better.

I have to set it up each time and break it down when I'm done and tie it next to my dock.... It's in the water all season but only out in the lake when we are using it.

mjmurphy53711, correct, that was my argument with the state when the first complaints came in and boaty rolled over and asked us what we were doing. The state is good with it, it's a raft in their eyes but people on my lake still cry like little girls every time I set the thing up for an afternoon session.

One thing to note, the problem with using concrete blocks for weight underwater is that concrete has air entrained within it. This makes it weigh a lot less (i've heard as much as 1/2).

That the reason that Buoys need so much weight anchoring them so they don't walk away.

Just something to think about

I would really suggest Trex decking or some sort of other option other than the PVC. That much PVC would cost about as much to do the top deck. What would also be cool is if you did the sides as well you can come in at angle, ollie onto it, slide off the sides, etc. The choices are limitless. Definitely a sick slider. Anchoring you'll have to figure out. Just make sure like Jdogg said, it's properly floated, otherwise your weight might submarine it.

Lose the PVC, you'll like it better overall. Trust us.
