I'm curious if it pisses other boaters and wakeboarders off if someone is surfing.

I like to wakesurf, as does most of the people I go out with, but I always feel like I'm pissing everyone off in the process. Is this just me? I am courteous to the people who are riding or boating around us, I'm just curious and dont mess up the glass if its there, usually just do it on choppy days or in a far off area.

Share your thoughts.

I'm fine with it. I don't own the lake so if somebody is using it for an activity they enjoy, got to respect that. Now if it's just some jackass is just cruising around following me on a jet ski, that pisses me off.

I agree on the Jet Ski thing.

So if there are 5 wakeboard boats on the water and the water conditions aren't that great, is it bad?

I use the good old golden rule out on the water and try to act how I would expect someone to act towards me.

I can't help sometimes but wonder if the ole 21V is ruining someone else's day.

I definitely move away from people who are trying to ride. I usually go to the choppiest part of the lake. As long as you are not trying to ride in an area with nice water or riding where somewhere else is riding you should be fine.

When I'm surfing, I'm usually just doing cirlcle maybe 200 feet across or so. Turning into the wave makes it cleaner (at least w/ the weight/speed we use) so i just take up a small section of the lake, usually in the middle (it's a round lake) where it's choppy anyways.

I try to stay away from people that are trying to ride, I'm on a river so I can' just go out into the middle. But I'll go to a wider section that is usally a little rougher, I also try to stay away from areas with docks or people fishing.
The water was 51 and the air was 49 in this pic, so we rode where ever we felt like.

Surfing I try and get out of the way and go somewhere a little rougher as to not ruin the glass for others. I'm usually driving in circles when surfing anyway.

I agree with the jet ski comment. The one that pisses me off even more is the tubing on the calmest water. The lake I ride at gets blown up pretty good so there is a far side that if you hug the shore a little more it's calmer. Well that's also when the tubers are doing there loops, figure 8's and S turns everywhere ruining any chance at good water. It's a good thing I have no problem telling them to get the F### out there and go somewhere else. I try and be nice but sometimes I can't help it and I am a prick right off the bat which probably doesn't help them leaving.

What kind of boat is that? How do you get the wave so long? Most times I find us surfing right behind the boat, looks like you're a few feet off.

Trainwreck, It's a 03 Supra 22SSV Gravity Games Edition. On the regular side I've found putting the wake plate down just a little bit instead of all the way up will clean the wake further back, but it does make it a little smaller.

here's the goofy wake, I'm still working on getting that as clean as the other side, it's close though

i surf wherever i want..not to be a jackass but my lake isnt really an all day butter session. its usually rough anyway so it doesnt really matter. also i live in a place where wakeboarding is hardly existent so its not messin up anyone water. fisherman yell at us anyway, no matter what we do and skiiers just stay away.

when it is glass, usually late in the day around 6-7, theres noone out anyway so we do w/e we want.

we basically own our lake when it comes to wakeboarding so everyone else is just there makin it choppy, which i have no problem with, i used to do the same thing. riding in butter is great but in alot of comps you have to know how to ride in the chop so we let people do what they want as long as we get to do what we want and theyre not putting anyone in danger by doing stuff like riding 10' behind the rider.

Thanks man! I have an 06 21V and I may be wrong, but I dont remember the wave ever being nearly that long. Maybe I'm not doing something right or the added length of your boat is helping. What kind of weight do you have? I'm using stock Gravity Games weight or 250s rear w/650 in the front locker. I may upgrade this year.

In those pics I have about 600 in the rear locker on the side we were surfing empty on the other side, and about 1000 in the front locker. Plus 3 or 4 people in the boat.

It's the weight that's the difference, the 03 SSVs were 21' 11" your 21V is 21' 2"
so there isn't much length difference at all and I've seen some sick surf wakes off of 21's. Order a 650 bag and a 1000 bag, then pull your 250's out and put the 650's in the back and 1000 up front. I've riden a couple 21Vs set up that way and the wake is awesome. Makes for a huge surf wake also.

We wakesurf whenever wherever - there's no right and wrong, doesn't matter if we are tubing, boarding, skating - runnin' WOT - it's always about being considerate of everyone else regardless of what we are up to. We don't own the lake anymore than the guys we are sharing water with. Remember the "Golden Rule", and throw that rope in!

If you can get a hold of the 1100lbs sack for the center. Move the 650 to the back and get your self another 650.

Fill it all up for a great wakeboarding wake.

Fill the center halfway and either rear side for a good surf wake. It works good if you have goofy and normal riders because you can switch sides with the flip of a button and moving peeps around.

If you stay out in the middle of the lake and run in a large cirlce, its all good. Only thing that drives me crazy is when surfers run along the same lines as skiers/boarders along shore and close to other boats for no reason. Worse than tubers when it happens. The surfers that pay attention to where they are driving are OK with me.
