I saw some directions on ebay that describes how to make your own pylon. I figured I'd check here first before bidding. Has anyone ever done this before? What supplies are needed? I'd really like to save the $400 and do it myself. Thanks for the help.

I can't belive someone is SELLING directions for it on eBay. I bought it a while back for a few bucks as a novelty and was so unimpressed I deleted it.

That's like: HEY, I just landed this new move - give me some $$$ and I'll tell you how to do it!

I got that off my chest, I feel better now.

Bill

Actually I do love his spirit - if people will pay for it then sell it!

I agree that him selling the directions is BS but I still figured it is worth it for 5 or 6 bucks. And he has a lot of good feedback from the same directions.

What kind of boat are you wanting to do this for? Also are you adding an extended pylon to an existing pylon or just adding a pylon to a boat that doesn't have one?

This will be going on a 1989 20 ft Sea Ray. I don't have any kind of pylon right now, so I'll have to install the whole thing.

I don't have any experience with those kind of add on pylons. I was hoping someone else would chime in here. I couldn't even find anything searching google.

Good luck.

Here's a link where a guy added a home made 7-1/2 foot high pylon to to his 20' Sea Ray I/O:

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Thanks a lot for the link. I already bought the direction off ebay for 5.99. I'll use both directions and see what I can come up with.
