why do you want those boards over any other board? i'd say for an average rider-based on my thought of average i'd say look into the LF Axis or witness.

well i was mainly pushing towards the Ronix One because of all the good reviews ive been hearing about it and i was just curious if it really does live up to all the hype. im not just considering those boards those were just my top 2...

whats the difference in the LF Shane and the axis?
they are both pretty much the same and cost the same. am i right?

The Shane and the One ride totally different. The Shane is pretty grippy on edge and bucks you super hard off the wake. The One, to me, is more of a mellow board but still has great pop.

The difference between the Axis and Shane is that the Shane has more of a pronounced center beam (soft landings) and it has removable cupped outer fins. The Axis doesn't have as much of a beam and is all molded fins.

i think you should reduce your budget to $500 and buy an 05-06 or not a pro model, see how fast your progress then determine what to do. My analogy, just because you can afford a ferrari doesn't mean you know how to drive it (ie you might not notice the differences in the shane from the axis)

jhilly8982, thats so true. i do find it odd that people buy what they dont need or buy so they say they can have it but if you think about it its whatever makes THEM happy not you. if he thinks the shane or the one is the right board i'd say go for it but i would definatly research them before i went out and bought. also this year if you want to pick up the shane board(awsome board soft landings and is really loose) go with an 06 and save some $$ and buy a vest or a rope also. mostly with this years boards such as hyperlite and LF they only did new graphics nothing to special, maybe some new boards. are you able to demo boards around you? if so try them both out, if not go with the one you fell is a better fit for your style riding.

Where have you heard good reviews of the "One" board? I think those are the 2 best looking boards out this year, that wouldn't have more to do with your decision would it? If so, no big deal, you should like the look of the board you're riding as well as how it rides. Might just want to come correct on that one though.

I have an 06 Shane 136 that has been ridden twice. I bought it a month ago brand new. I am pushing close to 190 lbs and after riding the 136 I definitely need the 140. My 136 is in absolute perfect condition, not a scratch or ding anywhere! Seriously, there is not a thing wrong with the board, I just really need a 140.

I will sell my Shane 136 for $225 shipped (US only), paypal only. Or, if anyone has a Shane 140 in perfect condition I will be willing to trade?

jhilly8982, I agree with you completely. The style (how you like to ride) is the most important thing. Try and demo or talk with someone knowledgeable that has seen you ride and get there opinion on what might fit your style best. Demo'ing a board is the best idea but sometimes this can be difficult (time, location). If you're not sure what board to buy than definately don't spend 1000 dollars on just a board that looks good or is "popular". Get an '06 or older board and bindings for half the price and spend the other half on a season pass to a cable park or gas money for your boat so you can get better and then you'll know what to drop the big coin on next time. thats just my opinion tho...

I'm kind of on the opposite side of the argument here. I feel that getting a higher end board is the right move because he can grow into it without having to get a new board when he starts really progressing. Both of those boards are not to dificult to ride, they aren't super aggressive 3-stage boards compared to some of the other rockers that are out there. For an average rider, stepping onto a 3-stage board could be the difference in making him above average. Neither of the boards have a uncontrollable "bucky" pop, however they are fast. I would suggest looking at a premier because it pops similar to the one but isn't quite as fast. You'll be fine on either of those boards in my opinion and ive coached a lot of riders that were average then i had them try out my board and saw significant increases in their ability level

TP83, I went out on the one yesterday, one of the things that all three of us that rode it was that it landed really smooth.

I would go with the one board and boot.

i also agree with SANTE210TEAM, i would definitely recommend getting a higher end board, i was gonna suggest getting a watson because i think it's easier to control than the shane but still has amazing pop and soft landings. my friend has the ronix one board and it just seems a little too slow for me but hey i'm sure you'll be happy without whichever one you choose!

I definately think you should get a higher end (ability/experience level) board because you sound pretty dedicated about riding and better to progress into the level of a board. But you can get brand new, high end '06 board/bindings for half the price and if you don't even know exactly what type of board style fits you then wouldnt rush to drop a Grand on a setup your not sure will work for you. Just recommend demoing first, but hey if you've got the $$$ and it doesn't work, then there's always eBay or the Classifieds on here to sell it and get something else

What a stupid analogy!!! If I get a ferrari... be sure I will learn how to drive it...

Get the RONIX ONE... if that is what you want!!!!

GO FOR WHAT YOU WANT!!! even if it is a ferrari!!!!

I own the Ronix ONE 142 and ONE boots and couldn't be happier.... and I broke my first one. I am an average rider and I feel the more advanced board is helping me progress faster so I say go for what you want. You can grow into the board. I hadn't ridden a Shane so I can't compare but I have tried on the Shane bindings. Definitely get the ONE bindings over the Shanes. No comparison IMO. If you go with a Shane board then you could get the Cells to match a little better.

If you're looking at the One then don't be surprised if it breaks on ya. I'm not saying it will, but multiple users on this forum had problems with it breaking since they are a first year company and have some bugs to work out.

I also agree with everybody who says get an 06. I just got an 06 3DS for $220 new, just because its a year old doesn't mean its out dated, and you save a bunch of money that you can throw into nice bindings. Save yourself some money by getting an 06, and buy your girlfriend something nice.

Idea if possible: demo some boards you are looking for and take the one you like most...
