I seem to have a minor problem! I can clear the wake but my hang time is fairly poor! Any ideas? And would a bow tank help with to get a bigger wake, I don't have enough space in the back! _________________ Anything goes! (In Ireland). |

Adding front ballast to your I/O should increase the size of the wake, and in theory provide you with more hang-time. However, it just depends on a series of things. Are are your fundamentals? And you do know that the pros only get around 1 and a half seconds... On a d up. Right? _________________

Like Blake said, but try to add some to the middle, dont want a problem cracking hull, and try to learn to edge correctly _________________ 04 LF Trip 133

Yeah,
Like Blake and LFPIMP said.
Especially if your wake is all washy, adding the front ballest will help clean it up as well will make the wake narrower together making the jump easier. Also as I did on one jump last year and it happened by accident. I usually would take a wide long fast cut at the wake and I can clear it, but not get much height. After a fall, as I was getting up and the boat was just about at 21 mph, I cut in to do a jump. I was going quite slow and so cut hard and I actually got the progressive edge and I got probably twice as much air as I normally get just by accident. I could tell, I was in the air for a long time. So as I am going to try this summer, cut slowly and keep your speed down slow up to the wake and then accelerate harder at the last second so you accelerate up the wake, not fast into it. I don't know if any of this makes sense. But yeah, I have added about 550 lbs to the nose and it definatly makes it bigger and cleans it up for an I/O boat.
You have a 350 in that Carlson? Attached are two pics, the first one is with weight, the second one without. You notice more of a difference when your riding but you can see the slight changes. This year I am going to move the weight back to just infront of the center of the boat to add a little more lip to the wave as it became a little too mellow. With another 500 lbs in the middle from the weighted pic, the wake is about knee high. And yes guys, I will get a pic this summer to prove it as seeing is believing. Also if you have powertrim, after adding the nose weight, play with the engine trim to change the wake shape. Usually people suggest slowly trimming it up a little but I don't have p/t so I can't really comment on that area. _________________ Check out my gallery. Make sure your edging right, speed isnt always a factor unless your going for distance. you just need good technique and pop of the top of the wake _________________ “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”

level out on the wake but still edging so there is more surface area.

aarrrgghhhh.....
DO NOT LEVEL OUT ON THE WAKE.
Stay on an edge, and actually edge harder up and thru the wake.
Leveling off will reduce line tension and kill your pop.

You really need to push off the wake and extend your leggs.
That together with good progressive edging will take you higher ..!
Look for an instructional video or something similar. |

| Edge through the wake. I just started doing this and my hang-time has increased significantly. The proper edge technique will do wonders to your pop and hangtime |
