Here's the "not trying to sell lift tickets" forecast. The storms generally end up being somewhere in the middle.

Either way any snow is much needed, I can't imagine how many rails are going to get blown out this weekend with so many rocks lurking just beneath the surface.

jryoung, no doubt. Until we see multiple feet of fresh, it's going to be gnarly just under the surface.

By the time this whole thing is done sometime next week, we might be there. I hope. Neutral

Not even close to getting pounded. We haven't got stuff yet, hopefully this materializes over the next few days, but I'm not holding my breath. Hasn't snowed yet today and it was already supposed to start. Crying or Very sad

sperbet, it's coming down pretty good down here.

They are saying 6500+, so Truckee will remain wet.

Currently IMing with a buddy in the kookwood parking lot, he says it's getting pretty stormy. Although this isn't going to be any "pounding" of a storm, check my link above, predictions are getting smaller.

By the end of today the totals from this series of storms should be 48" or so at the Wood.

Time to wax the skis. Finally.

Jensen, shoot, Wed should be an off the hook pow day. I called off tomorrow's trip because it is gonna be too gnarly up there.

More coming Mon night through Tues night. Should blow out early Wed morn and clear out to partly bluebird and waist deep light pow.

Man I need to play hookey Wednesday....

stompin7s, they are forecasting more dumpage Sunday into Monday. Should be epic conditions, but be aware that you may encounter some problems travelling.

Jensen, everywhere should be great. Go there, or go to Alpine and hit the back bowls.

Should be good times.

Jensen, Squaw rocks in good pow. Would never go there otherwise. Too pricey for the icy! Plus their operators are puss's when it comes to wind.

Alpine = Cool
Kirkwood = Cool Cool

oshensurfer, obviously the Wood would be #1 - but Jensen liven in Auburn and Alpine is a whole lot easier to get to.

Right now, nothing is easy to get to. Laughing

I think 80 has been closed more in the past week than it has been open. Shocked

went to squaw today and it was awesome. the weather could not have been better, in the 20s, sunny, no wind at all. it was a tiny bit crowded but not too bad, it thinned out real good around lunch time.

But squaw seems like a huge skiiers resort, there was about 1 snowboarder for every 40 skiiers. there was a lot of snow, but not too many good powdery runs, it was all chopped up and was almost like going through moguls. I actually had better powder runs at sugarbowl last week, but maybe i just didn't know my way around the mountain that good, i pretty much covered both sides though.

There was also a lot more challenging runs at squaw. It was fun watching those skiiers drop in off those cliffs. And i saw that palisades run that was rated in the top 10 best diamond runs.

overall, good times, but for the money and shorter distance, i'll stick to sugarbowl
