I've been riding for about two years now but i really only count last season as my first becuase i actually really progressed and got alot better. Unfortunatley at the start of last season i was still at the very beginner stage. As the season progressed so did I. I started landing wake jumps, butter/ lip slides, 180's and other basic tricks. These were primarilly on the heelside of things, not much toeside. Does anyone have advice on what tricks i should start doin this year, ie: grabs, spins, inverts? I really want to go big this summer and move into the intermediate/ advanced group.
Thanks

Deffinately learn your toeside progressive edge, and learn to ride switch, I didnt early enough, now its hard to back to square one. I tried spins first, 1's, 3's, boned out method 3's, work some switch spins in there then start with the tantrum and backroll for inverts.

I pretty much have the 1's down im just concerend on how hard the handel pass for the 3 is gonna b. anyone know? anybody know a good grab to start out on. I started to pull indys on my snowboard this season... i was thinking indy, nose, tail for wakeboard?

First Toeside versions of what you have, Switch versions, and then increase the number of spins and look at tantrums and backrolls or something.

If you dont master the basics of toeside and switch now, you'll be kicking yourself later...

I think that toeside and switch are the best things you can learn to help you get a lot better. Some of my friends that have been wakeboarding for a few years more than me still cant go toeside and switch because they never learned how and now they just dont want to.

haha thats funny i got a friend thats the same way. He goes huge HS into the flats, then he will just ride over the wake cut out and hit the wake again HS. I can quote him, "toesides gay".

its key to be able to jump either side of the wake in either stance. Switch HS/TS, and regular HS/TS.

my friend just now started jumpin switch HS, doin 180s but he has to cut out regular then ollie 180, then cut back in switch HS, he cant cut out switch and then cut back in switch. lolz

OuachitaWaker, Yeah except my friend can't even go as big as me but claims he is much better. He thinks he goes huge into the flats and then just cuts back over the wake and jumps HS again

Rainther45, haha its understandable, the first thing i learned was a hs wake jump and thats all i did for a month, just go to where i could go huge into the flats, edgeing uncontrollably into the wake and just launching. Then i would ride over the wake and do it again and again. When its ur first time to get air u never wanna stop.

OuachitaWaker, Yeah thats how I was my first season before I really picked up the sport religiously. Back then I didnt want to really progress any farther than just getting huge HS air. But now that I'm in the stage of wanting to progess by bounds and leaps I took the time to learn TS and switch. Actually before I moved to Orlando and started to go to OWC I never even bothered with switch. I think that OWC is great for that because they are always changing up the course and also the cable goes counterclockwise.

Lennyp04, Yeah. Well its better than my other friend. All he does is kneeboard and then tells me how much I suck at wakeboarding if I'm not throwing tricks.

Lennyp04, sounds like I'm kinda where you're at, as well. Last summer was my first time really wakeboarding seriously. My plan first thing this summer is to emphasize riding switch at the cable park almost exclusively to get the feel and balance for it. I've heard this is a good way to learn and progress and learn a lot faster. I was pretty close to getting toeside wake to wake last summer so I plan on working hard on that too. Unlike OuachitaWaker's friend I couldn't wait to ride all the way back over the wake to try and get air again, it just felt natural after hitting it heel side to come back and try and hit it toeside.
