Hello. Smile I'm fairly new to wakeboarding. Skiing is my first discipline. I've been skiing since I was 4, and I'm hoping this will help me with wakeboarding. I've been up on my cousin's wakeboard a couple of times and got my own this winter, so I'm hoping to do some serious riding this summer. I was wondering what tricks I can expect to learn this summer? I'm planning on riding almost every day and getting really into it and trying really hard. I'm particularily looking forward to doing inverts and grabs. I was hoping to learn a tantrum by the end of the summer. (It was on an episode of Made, where they taught a girl who was afraid of water how to wakeboard in like 2 months. Originally they were going to teach her to do a tantrum but she didn't quite make it, though she got really close) So, anyone know what tricks I can look forward to learning?

first start off with getting up, try some surface tricks like butterslides and surface 180's, learn to ride switch early on, it helps a lot. I also saw that episode of made, remember that that was a pro teaching her to board, learning a tantrum may be a little out of your league. Learn your progressive toe and heelside edge. proper technique is key. Try going to the home page and on the left hand margin is a colum of trick tips.

I've done a bit of that, I can get up with no problem and I've done some very very basic tricks. Like, a surface 180. I've read all the trick tips about a zillion times, lol. I'll definetely remember that, Thanks so much!

Edit- Wait, is a butterslide when you like stand with the board so that your feet are facing the boat? If thats what a butterslide is, then I can do those too.

LakePrincess14, If you want to, you'll be able to do a tantrum within a few months. Just listen to the advice of people who know what they're doing (lot's of people on this site do) and keep pushing yourself. I hit my first invert in the first summer of riding, and I'm not someone who's naturally cut out for boardsports.

And another reason wakeboarding is better than surfing, you die less, that means you have another day to wakeboard, which is more fun than surfing anyway.

Thank you so much guys, I really appreciate the advice ^^. So, I guess this means I'm going to have to learn to ride switch. My grandparents live on a lake and my grandpa was one of the first people in our city to get really into and he's always trying to convert people. Most [eople in our family are really into towed water sports Razz I've had a chance to watch some wakeboarders around my age who were really good (BC Summer games, 2006, I went for slaloming) Some of them were so amazing, it made me really really want to get more into wakeboarding. I usually ride every day in the summer, if I can. My coach (&Grandpa) Always lauughs at me, because I don't know when to quit. Laughing Half the time he's the one telling me I'm too tired and I need to give it a rest before trying again.
